Strange load track fault

Postby djeddie on 17 Mar 2015, 23:07

I'm using 3.3.10 on Win8 and can load all video tracks except anything in full HD (1920X1080). When trying to load one of them the player says "loading" and just sits there and does nothing else. The only way to be able to use the player again is quit and restart the program.
Full HD videos play properly on the PC out of Cross.
Any ideas anyone???

In fact I can add to this...
I'm also getting the Beatgrid 'greyed' out for them and every video I try to load after this it will do the same... even though the same video might play in the other player! It's also not just Full HD either.
What has happened? I've never had a problem before, in fact going back and using older versions it all works fine.
Anyone? I need this machine up and running for Saturday night as I'm doing a night entirely on video. Well I thought I was.

Likely something for the devteam.

Can you make one or more files available just in case your files have some more specific properties than HD.

Are you using Cross 64bit.

What are your hardware specs.

It's Win8, 32 bit.
3GHz uP, 4Gb ram, 2Gb video.
I'd have to make all 6Gb of video files available as it's now not all the same ones going wrong. If they won't load and I restart Cross, the vid will be there ready to play on restart.
Also noticed that even though the collection is analyzed when loading any track it re-analyzes it on load and can crash at 20%. It's always 20% when it stops.

The analysis issue may point to something.
You may want to check (or just set) read/write/modify access to your vid files.

Also check (just to be sure) you have these right in your analysis folder.

Then put like 10 files in a temp playlist, reanalyse and check if all fields get filled (especially BPM and Key). What has been seen, but is supposed to be fixed is that for some files the BPM and key is only written when a track is analyzed in a deck....

The 20% doesn't really say anything about the files, more likely on the analyses process that ended or is about to start.

I just verified with some of my 1920*1080 files and don't see anything going wrong.

Other programs capable of playing doesn't tell more than the file not being corrupt. Cross handles files quite different, like more in memory vs streaming.

Given the 32-bit OS you have the max specs available. Assuming this problem can be resolved I still would recommend to start considering upgrading to 64-bit OS and more memory.

Could you also check if you have any crash file available (users..\appdata\roaming\mixvibes\

Thanks for the advice but I can't see any crash files available unfortunately. But the weird behaviour continues...
I can have the same file playing in both players; but the video will only show in one and then no video will show in that player until restart, I can get the waveform to show in the player but there is nothing where the beatgrid is (and therefore no audio), random crashes while trying to load any track (not just video) and the headphones will not work properly (I have no PFL, only the main output) no matter what I try!
I've just tried 3.3.10 on my old PC (1.8GHz uP, 2Gb RAM, 1Gb video) and it works absolutely fine... I just have no way of adding a second video output to it.
I've uninstalled and re-installed (Cross, Video and drivers) but to no avail.
It must be something to do with the actual hardware. I'll get makes and models and post them up if you think it might help.

It seems really weird as you say.
What I can think of is to try to free up as much cpu and memory capacity as possible. Basically by excluding most known potential interfering causes.

So after a reboot:
Not running other programs.
Disable Anti virus/malware etc.
Set soundcard latency to max.
use a new collection with some tracks only (analyze before trying).
no syncing

If this has a normal behavior you can work your way back....

BTW if you upgrade from a 2.x version on this install in the past you may also want to delete the mixvibes.settings file (in the roaming\mixvibes folder). Your problems don't seem to be related to this file, but it does exclude some issues. And this file isn't removed by an uninstall... You will have to go through your preferences to verify them.

Thanks for the reply. I've turned off everything that isn't needed, removed the collection, added four tracks (two video and two audio), re-analyzed them and tried...
and the problem remains. I've also noticed that when turning the headphone mix control that the on-screen version doesn't follow properly, it leaves a few white markers on the on-screen knob. These disappear if you move the control again.

I have found a solution though... I've rolled back to version 3.0 and it works like a dream. So I'm guessing it's something that's been added or changed since then.

In fact 3.0 has a similar fault in that it won't play all video tracks but it won't crash if it doesn't. I can simply drop another track in and it will play.

Just to check, is 3.3.10 64 bit only? As the title on the DL page says, "New Mixvibes Cross DJ 3.3: Track Match & 64-bit"
