Re: Cross CDJ850 DISTORTION ISSUE

Yes i had the limiter off when i took the screen but its normally on. Ive swapped usb around into different port, but no difference (noise or what deck get assigned to routing).

Just to confirm I can switch the decks between the output channels and the distortion always happens on output 2 so it must be software?

Not sure what it is. Based on your experience it is understandable/logical. Based on others using it is does not make sense yet. I suspect the CDJ driver causing it.

Think we need to start at square one. Meaning:
Disconnect all.
1. Try Cross with laptop sound only.
OK?
2. (re)install latest CDJ asio driver (in Cross | Help | how to ... for download link)
3. Start Cross and setup CDJ's
Try... No good?

4. Reinstall Cross
Try........ Let's know

OK so no distortion through laptop (plugging headphones and turned up to 11 and clear as a bell).

Removed Pioneer Asio, rebooted and re installed - still distortion through external setup.

Removed Cross, rebooted, re installed still distortion -ditto-

OK. Too bad this effort was not successfull.

Did you follow the connection steps when changing decks? CDJ's are smarter than most soundcards. Reboots inbetween required.

Could you try to describe your distortion somewhat. Groundloop, hum, low volume, high volume?

Physical causes could be e.g.
Power cable not connected firmly, audio cables not firm connected or broken. A hair (/dust) in a connection or creating short cut in analoque circuit (RCA cables).

Sorry if it seems like you have to do it all, but we've no idea what it could be in the software that is linked to this situation. So even if it is the software more detailed info is needed to be able to duplicate it.

I have recorded a loop of a song with output 1 for 10 seconds then output 2 (problem channel) for 10 seconds ( swapping between for 1min). I'm happy that the mixer eq setting are absolutely equal, and even off the waveform from the recording you can visually see a differnce to (albeit not clipping out of range?)

Thanks for your help on this it is appreciated!

You made it clear. Your bass speaker needs replacement.

I assume you used a cloned track for the recording. Did your record Cross internal or with the Uca202. And what port is the uca connected to (at cdj). Did you have Cue(headphone) disabled for both.

An effect could explain, but the question remains what and how. Broken filter, mic signal picking up via de 2nd....

Its not the bass speaker (but am in the market for a sub!)

It wasn't a cloned track as it appears you can happily drop the same track into each deck. But anyways the distortion happens through that channel on any track independently - i just used that track to highlight the problem.

I made the recorded using the uca202 through audacity, but i have removed the uca202 previously and makes no improvement. Thinking back I first thought it was my internal sound card causing the issue -which is why I bought the UCA202 anyway. So ruling soundcard out I then thought it was the mixer, so thats when I decided to rewire and test different inputs and decks to rule that out which pointed me to software.

Oh the UCA202 comes out of booth.

OK - I have just ran Cross through a different laptop. I have changed the USB cables to brand new ones. I have switched RCA cables and changed mixer input channels. I have checked grounding, disconnected and swapped main plug sockets and still I get distortion through output 2 only !!! :?:
