hi figdj. what you mention can be achieved putting in any video loop in that layer and set fx for video. twist the fx faders and enjoy.

I understand what you are saying. The fact is that in that situation the same video loop would be reacting to effects according to the FX setting. That is not what I am talking about. I am talking about a visualizer in which you can control sensitivity and the set of or amount of graphics being displayed.

You can't do that with iTunes but the effect is pretty good. Now using a visualizer as a plug in like G-Force plugs in iTunes.

In Cross a visualizer would be a plug in or if Cross added a video source that can be taken from any window then a visualizer could run standalone and Cross would take the video from that window as a source.

It is a lot more interactive and random that what you explained.

Hello Guys,

I upgraded to Cross yesterday, it looks great but unfortunately I'm having a runtime error when I try to analyze or add data... any idea what's the issue?

Thanks
Chris

Hello Guys,

Cross RC is working great on Pioneer CDJ 2000, I have couple of questions though.

1-is there a way to control the Cross fader on Cross 3 from Pioneer DJM ? cause I am mixing Music video and I need to control the Cross fader in order to have a transition in the video monde too ??

2- I have 2 hard disks 1 TB each will mirrored data on both, I analyzed all the data on HD 1 and I saved the Data base.
Is there any other way I can use the saved analyzed file on the 2nd HD?? I need to have a back up HD incase HD1 died during any gig ??

Thank You in advance

Regards
Chris

You can re-use the analysis files.
Why don't you include the Cross folders into your mirror-'app'?

Or do you have 2 seperated 'backup' disks which you manually 'refresh'.

Please pick your way from my way of working.

Use an identical root-folder for audio on both: ( \MusicCross\).
(I use different for Vid as this is usually way longer to sync due to file sizes)
I (would recomment to) run the collection(s) from local disk. Backup to both. (c:\MusicDJ\Cross\database)

Set analyses folder to an 'easy' folder (c:\MusicDJ\Cross\analysis\)
(you can move your current files); modify the setting in Cross.

I use the program FastCopy to sync.; jobs can be saved.

I access my music via 'substitute disks' this is a low level command to create disk/folder shortcuts. Main advantage is that you can swap source disk without having to relocate.

e.g. drive = disk D
I map all my audio by
subst K: d:\ MusicCross

By this you can even hookup your second disk. A crash requires only 2 commands (=delete + e-drive (e.g.)):
subst k: /d
subst k: e:\ MusicCross

By this method any combination can be made without having to relocate or change disk-letter (which could impact other applications). Also works to local folders, usb, network.

What I do not backup are the Cross local settings (preferences) as a different system likely requires other settings.

In fastcopy be aware that if the destination folder has a "\" at the end the source folder is copied into the folder. Usually you want the content copied from one to the other (not using the "\").

I hope this is clear. If not don't hesitate....

3.1.0 RC2 even has a new backup feature for database+analysis files AND media files too (optional).
Thinkpad X240, 8 Gb / 512Gb SSD
running Cross 3.4.3 64-bit
Allen & Heath K2, Pioneer DJM-450

Yes . This technically works. But takes hours. It is not suitable for a read to use second disk that is frequently synced.

(Even though a fast zipping protocol is used by Cross. It are many files in analysis and 100ths of gb in files)
