My bad, didn't see you were using a Mac.
Then your first screen is ok : this is how it works.

If you still haven't sound :
- check if device is still online : applications/utility/Audio & MIDI configuration
- device is ON (no blue light). If the power button is blue = no sound.
- check your volume at the top : cue, master and also cue/mix.

i checked this several times and it looks ok.
device is on, volumes are ok (tried to play with volumes in windows 8 to see if they have influence)

i will try with another sound card (u46mk2) and try to use Vfx only as MIDI controller.

sometimes i am experiencing issues with device recognition.
i have to connect/disconnect Vfx several times because Cross does not recognise it or if it does, then buzzing sound appears.

I have tried to change USB cable, USB port.
i have to check with AC powered USB hub.

On the Mac or on the PC ?
With the Mac, it sometimes loose connection.

You can see it into Applications/Utility/Audio & MIDI configuration where the device will come in and out.
The controleur wasn't designed to be use with a Mac, there may be issue with the usb.

Headphones on U46MK2 should work OK on Mac?

I can preview music, but i cannot set cue to disable Mix output so i always hear mix out in my headphones

probably i had to connect my headphones to Output 2 not headphones jack on my U46MK2

Do you see it going online/offline or always online ?
It should be always online.

when i bought it i didn't think there will be issues on OSX :(

You certainly buy it as the Windows product as it is not mentionned that it work with Mac.

Which version of OSX is the most compatible one?

i would say any, as far as you don't have frequent disconnect/reconnect (I have...).

am I the only one who cannot get headphones to work? :)

Yes, because when mine is online, everything work.

Is there firmware upgrade maybe?

There was, but again, this is not designed for a Mac, so even the upgrade don't add anything for a Mac.

Yes.

It's because the headphones connectors on the U46 is a monitor mix, all the sound of the soundcard is mixed there.
If you want to listen only to your monitor output, you need to connect the headphones with an adapter to the outputs you have assigned to the monitor.

probably i had to connect my headphones to Output 2 not headphones jack on my U46MK2

That's it.

How do you connect your Vfx to your Mac ? Direct usb or an usb hub ?

I thought i was buyin MIDI product, AFAIK MIDI should work everywhere ... and Cross works on Mac and Vfx works with Cross :)
that was my theory, unfortunately i was mistaken

Can I try to upgrade it?

Direct USB, i have ordered usb hub but i have not recieved it yet

Direct USB is the way to go and here you don't have issue with the MIDI part but with the audio part, which is a soundcard issue.

I'll sent you an email with firmware update and procedure.
