Re: MIDI Mapping Vfx Control in Cross 3.0

Hi Dan,
Tried pretty much everything I can find. It's just the scrolling'ness of the titler. If I can lick that I'm pretty much home free. It only seems to occur when scrolling. Stopped is fine. No effect were on. I un-linked the video from the audio effects and even put on just audio effect. Same problem in titler. It looks like the letters are being cut in half and trying to play 'catch-up'...just enough to be very noticeable. I took some screen shots of the 1GB Radeon card in action and the Windows 7-64 bit OS Screen resolutions (Laptop & Samsung 46in LCD)...

Hope you see something. Thanks.

Radeon pic isn't the clearest but it is in the red about 25% when video is playing.

 o kay   just curious ,,the hp laptop ,,you are useing the hdmi out put to send the signal to the lcd screen :?: does it have any other vid output connections ,,both of my computers (old vista,,new dell ) had/has vid outputs ,,vga..dvi,,hdmi ,,used the vga on second monitor and dvi on main,, no tearing on titler,, ran version 3.0 and 3.1,, earlier versions of Cross ran main dvi and hdmi on second screen,, even with weak vista system titler didnt tear ,, running at 100% cpu at times when running vids ,,when first set up vids in 3.0 omly had one screen ,,and could get the second output to play on the main by using the toggle display tab in the gui ,,,,couple of options to see where the problem lies with ,, set up the laptop to run only one screen and run software ,,by toggling the display to get the vid output to play on the laptop ,,see if its still tearing  ,next option would be to use another monitor to see if the fault lies with the lcd tv not being able to process the signal ,,both my screen are lcd ,,a 24"for main,,and a 19 " for second ,,not seeing this problem on my set up ..trying to help with my limited info/ knowledge /experiences ,,hopefully someone with more of the above can assist you in this plight ,

on the gui if you expand the vid screens and play vids is the titler tearing up in the center display :?:

Hi Dan, just got back from a gig. My HP computer has a VGA port on it. I will have to buy a VGA to HDMI cable tomorrow and see how that goes. I could also try HDMI to Component cable (bit more pricey...) and see how that goes. I will keep my receipts until the titler works...lol !!

All Widows OS & Cross settings look right on! I even tried fooling around with the lesser HP Intel 4000 stock video card and set it all the way to max quality. Same tearing in titler. I found an article on Serato's site that explains how to set the Intel Stock Card for best performance. The 3D 'et al' settings are basically set to Performance rather than Quality.

Tried mostly all software settings, have the latest BIOS, upgraded firmware on Samsung TV, etc...Just cable trials now.
Will let u know how it goes...Thanks

 see my above posting ,,also try a vga monitor to see if you still get the tearing ,, hate to suggest trying to take your laptop to a computer repair /seller to try it out on(to get access to a vga monitor ,,nowadays the monitors come with all the ports ,,vga ,dvi, hdmi ) ,, ,,also did you check the senerio of just using your laptop screen and see if its still tearing

I'll check out just using the computer screen tonight. I also have another brand new Samsung 40" Smart TV I just bought my wife that I could try but it is very close to the same 'problem' scenario I've got. I will try and locate a VGA monitor. Sounds like a good route to take...Will also try another HDMI cord I have.

Laptop to 2nd screen (TV) is HDMI to HDMI...TV does NOT have vga input. TV has 2 HDMI in's and 1 USB plus component and optical. I don't think TV is set for native...think it is 'auto' or something like that for that setting.

 if you have a hdmi out put from your laptop then dont worry about the vga connection ,, from your screen shots the second display is set to its native resolution ,, the other tv seems to be the same senerio as what you have been trying ,, check the single screen senerio ,,then maybe out of s t and giggles maybe hook it up to the smart tv with the other hdmi cable ,, just too see ,,not shure where else to look ,,

Re: MIDI Mapping Vfx Control in Cross 3.0

Hey Dan,
I tried a whole slew of things for 2 days. I researched many things online that had to do with video 'tearing'. What was interesting was I reversed the TV/Laptop configuration so that Cross & the Windows OS was on the big TV and my laptop was the secondary screen showing the video output from Cross. The tearing happened also on my laptop screen! I figured it had to be either the refresh rates or the HDMI cord. I proceeded to Best Buy and ended up speaking with a few tech guys there who advised me to purchase a really high end high speed HDMI cable for $110. That didn't clear up the problem.
Anyway tonight I noticed that if I lowered the 'size' of the font in titler, it did much much better with no tearing 'Vertically scrolled'. If I scroll horizontally, I still have the problem but not as bad if I lower the font 'size'. That may have been my problem. I probably was making the font too large (the height of 1 letter being about 1/3 of the screen high). Vertical speed seems to work up & down with no tearing. Horizontal speed L to R is still a prob but no tearing if I keep the font small. I thought bigger was better. I had the size knob in titler set at about 12:00. Now it is set at only 7 - 8:00.
I guess I can live with that. Also, keeping words stationary, no scrolling, works perfectly and I can make letters huge with this scenario.

I also noticed the speed of my video visuals slow down 'slightly' if I play 2 at the same time blended. My second Radeon card is only at 42% used when that happens so I guess I have plenty of headroom left. Any thoughts on how to maintain the normal playing speed of the video visuals when playing more than 1? I have 8GB of RAM (memory) on the laptop and the Radeon vid card is a 1GB. Not too big of a deal but I will keep my eye on it to make sure I am not headed for a crash. Most of these video visuals are looping in the samplers at 1980 X 1080...good quality. Thanks.

 $110 wow ,,
usaly in problems that are not readly solved the issue comes out to being the info that is not at hand/ie titler at 1/3 screen size ,, will try that to see if i can replicate it ,,havent noticed any vid slow down ,,usaly run two vid loops and maybe two on other samplerpads with titler and pic browser in play ,,
 when this is occuring ,,just curious if you were playing vids with audio ,do you notice the audio slowing down
have yet to task new system to 8 vids in sampler pads running at same time ,, onlly using about 20% //20% cpu//ram ,, in the two vid senerio ,, in old system ran 89% in same senerio and crashed ,,on any higher use
