Audio problem

Postby jonathanvanenis on 19 Oct 2016, 12:59

Hi,
when i'm playing my MIDI vinyls, i'm hearing the MIDI signal (sinusoidal signal) in my speakers.
I put my soundcard in Line mode and and my cinch cables are also connected in Line in my mix table.
If i put it in Phono, the MIDI signal is very loud in my speakers.

Could someone help me please ?

Thanks,

If you hear MIDI that would be amazing. As MIDI is just digital data. What could happen is that MIDI triggers a synth in your PC and create piano like sounds...
That just for explaining...

What you likely hear is timecode signal. This usually (99.9%) is caused by still having the monitoring of your inputs enabled. You should be able to switch this off in the settings of your sound card.

'Line' and 'Phono' are standards for the energy level that is send through. Phono is way less compared to Line. So you should never send a Line output to a Phono input as this may seriously damage the Phono input.
A Phono signal is easier being disturbed by interference for the same reason.

If your signal is a 50Hz hum than you have a groundloop problem. Whereas tc is over 1000Hz

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

Hi, thanks for the answer. But are you saying it's a problem from the settings of my U46 MK2 sound card ? If it is, i don't know where i have to check to change the input settings.

(i do not have any problems to "play" music with my time code vinyls and Cross but the problem is that the time code signal is also amplified. so i'm hearing my music and the time code signal at the same time)

it's a 1000Hz signal
