UI stalls frequently

PROBLEM

In Cross DJ on OSX,

When searching the catalog or queueing tracks, my UI stalls, but audio still plays fine.

Browsing tracks in the UI works fine, but search stalls for 5-10 seconds every time new terms are typed

Moving a track to the deck stalls for about 10 seconds, then performs the analysis. Playback starts almost immediately if fader is on that side.

Is there any way to optimize my system to improve performance?

Database of around 70,000 FLAC files
external USB hard drive (operating on USB 2.0 since that's all the MacBook supports)
external audio control (Behringer UCA222)

Cross DJ 3.3.11 64 bits, purchased from App Store

PC specs:

2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
8GB of 1333MHz DDR3 SDRAM
3MB shared L3 CACHE
Intel HD Graphics 3000 processor with 384MB of DDR3 SDRAM
USB 2.0 bus
500GB SATA HD

You have a lot of tracks. That's a delaying issue. Just try a (temp) new collection to see how fast it can be. Just add a few thousand tracks (or less)

Also analysis is recommended to do as preparation. This takes the peak down for cpu usage.

It may seem nice to have a large collection but it would be best to focus on using several hundred to a few thousand. A 3 hour gig takes roughly 60 tracks (depending on style).
1000 tracks take over 3000 minutes, so more than 2 days of non stop playing. To get yourself familiar with these, tag properly, set cues, hot cue and loops takes a lot more time.

So try to focus on satisfying the crowd and not just on adding requests to your gig, as not many requests will have the properties to fit the flow, if only because you don't know the track...

For Cross audio has highest priority, next vid. User interface is lower priority.
