Audio Routing Question - Part 2 - The Output version!

Postby rhopkins on 29 Apr 2016, 09:48

Hello again,

So now I solved my input problem, I have another question regarding the output.

On the UMCP2 I have Output 1/2 going to an amp and speakers.

I was hoping that if I used Output 3/4 to another set of speakers, the Master audio would also come out of those.

But the cue audio, the same as what's in my headphones, is coming out of 3/4 too.

I want to send the Master audio out of both 1/2 and 3/4 outputs, and use my headphones as Cue.

Is that possible? Tried all of the routing methods but none seem to do this for me. I thought people used Output 3/4 as a booth output?

Cheers,

Ross

What you want can't be done.
The output 3/4 and Cue are the same at the UMCP2 (as with almost any 2 channel stereo controller).

Also mixers (hardware) don't all have a seperate 'second main'.

A simple solution may be to use a splitter cable. But this may be to simple as a solution as you also split the power by this, which may result in picking up distortion easier.

Alternative could be to send master out to a second PC and set this up to use 2 outputs of a soundcard.

All kind of solutions are possible with some additional hardware. But does depend on what you want, how it is setup etc. E.g. active/passive speaker, balanced cabling or not, ...

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).
