i looked at your pictures and i see that there was a u46mk2

is that right or is it really a U-Mix 44?

if itis a u46mk2 you can download the right driver from the esi-audio site.

look for u46dj version 3.7 win 10 compatibel.

if it is a U-Mix 44 use asio4all . don´t use the internal soundcard

routing mode switch to external mixer cue this is when u are using a mixer with two TT or CDJ with timecode

Yes i deff have a u-mix44. I downloaded the u46driver after reading something on the forum think it was something about needing u46mk2 to work with win 10.

I also have the U-Mix44 driver.

For now I'm not using any soundcard I'm just trying to get it to run on my laptop then once I get there I can move onto setting up vinyl control and use the soundcard? or are u saying use ASIO even when I'm using my laptop speakers and no TT?

For any type of DJing ASIO is recommended.

The ASIO method means the pieces of sound send to a soundcard by the CPU are smaller than using an other type, like WDM. This means that if you make a change, like clicking start or stop(etc.) it can be in the live stream more quickly.

With ASIO you can get the feeling you really control the sound, whereas WDM has a delay in response.

The seek being applied does somehow indicate that MIDI commands are received.

Do you hear strange sounds (piano key) with some repeating interval.

Does your laptop have a touchscreen

Have any other MIDI devices been connected (synthesizer, piano keyboard or whatever)

BTW it's OK you have a mixvibes.settings back. It was the intend to have a new version so potential issues in the file shouldn't be there no more.

The MIDI protocol and soundcards are totally independent from a technical point of view. Different protocols at different communication levels. The may however work together when MIDI creates sound via MS synth.

We'll get there, despite it being a bit strange situation.

Ok thanks for clearing up the ASIO thing.

No piano sounds. No sounds at all unless a track is playing but then I cant hear any sounds that shouldn't be there apart from distorted bad sound and jumping around while a track is actually playing.

Not a touch screen and nothing connected to laptop apart from my mouse which is a Logitech G600. But as I said before I tried unplugging it and Cross was still behaving the same. I just again unplugged it and restarted Cross and it made no difference.

One thing I did notice is now in keyboard tab there are now 2 PC and 2 Laptop keyboards listed.

Ok so I just looked at keyboard and maybe there is a conflict. But as I said it still didn't work even without mouse plugged in. And I'm not pressing these buttons when Cross is open but could conflict if Cross uses these commands and I use them same commands for another program? Again doesn't explain why Cross worked fine before I tries to use the U-Mix44 soundcard and DVS.

I have a few marcos set up on the mouse that I use for other things. These are the only setup.

The nr of keyboard mappings isn't relevant. Only one can be active.

You could try to remove the seek commands. This just concerns the key entry. In the screen you can use the buttons.

Select the active keyboard mapping. Click X2 icon to copy. Select the mapping.
At the right go to player section and remove the seek commands. Please check the 'active' player etc to.

If this makes a difference we know somewhere the command is given.

That seems to have solved the seek problems and now its not clicking through my track list either.

So tomorrow I'm going to try using vinyl control again. So in audio tab in mixvibes I leave the soundcard on ASIO4all or U-Mix44? Is there any other settings I need to change?

That's great news.
You can use any of the asio group, if no W10 issues use the 44.
Likely via settings you can lower the buffer. My soundcard runs at 1.1 ms but you'd better start at appx 5ms. If you get dropouts increase a little, if it works you can try lower but I suggest to leave it and start the testing you wanted to do..
