Cross Always Crashes been stuck on 2.6 HELP!

Postby deltapi2000 on 27 Oct 2015, 23:46

I just want to say I really love this software and I have been using it for a couple years now but I havent been able to upgrade since Cross 2.6. Every other version crashes on me while playing. Just shuts off. I really want to use the newer versions but I cant!! Someone please help! i am also using the Video plugin. Where do I find my crash log and who can help me? And I started using iTunes now to organize my crates but now, Cross 2.6 Cant read any of the tracks. ;-( Disaster!
I'm even thinking about buying a Windows Computer to make this work!!!!!

PS, Seems to be working fine when VIDEO PLUG-IN is OFF

OS X Yosemite (but was crashing on snow leopard also)
Version 10.10.5
Macbook pro (15 inch Early 2011)
Proc: 2Ghz Intel Core I7
8GB 11333 MHz DDR3

Please install Cross 3.3.11 and tell when it crashes. Many users at mac so likely something that can be solved.
Pretty unique 2.6 is working as osx and iTunes have had several improvements causing others trouble.

Not a mac user but likely if you Google you can instantly find where osx stores crash files.

It might be worthwhile to start Cross in 32bit mode to avoid issues with soundcard not being 64bit. Right click the icon for this.

you can add as attachment in your reply.

after uploading the file(s) please insert in the post by using the 'in line' option that becomes available.

As you haven't provided any info on how or when it crashes it is pretty impossible to have any suggestion. Likely the devteam can be of help by going through the crash file.

Cross-3.3.1.1 .txt
So here is the Crash log from the Last crash of Cross 3.3.1.1 from my MAC.

It crashes about 5-10 minutes in, and it crashes when I load up a video file. I turned off the Video Plug in ( 3.3.1.1) and loaded the same files and it works fine. Seems like there may be a video conflict. I have tried running it in 32 bit mode with the Video plug in on and it still crashes after 5 - 10 minutes. I have also tried various other .mp4 video files and it still crashes with the video plug in on. Its seems to crash when I am dragging a VIDEO file (mp4) to one of the decks, from within the Cross software.

I use Cross 2.6 with the video plug in ON and I NEVER get a crash.

*I have been running 3.3.1.1 with the Video plug in OFF for about 3 hours now and analyzing my tracks and I am getting NO crashes.

Thanks for the file and info.

As from Cross (full) 3.0 the video plugin is already included. You should not install a plug in on top of it.

Not sure if this is it, but is all I can think off... The devteam will have to look into the file in case anything else is the cause...

If you did install the plugin, uninstall both Cross and the plugin and reinstall Cross.

UPDATE:

I have been running 3.3.11 in 64bit mode with the video plug-in off.
It has been running great no crashing. BUT, sometimes when i exit the program I get and UNEXPECTED ERROR message of when it does crash, and it doesn't save any of my track analysis that I have done in that session.

If such happens you could try reopen Cross and close afterwards. It might be that the journal file of the database is applied on this close.

What makes you conclude analysis isn't saved, as the analysis file is written per track.
