can't hear anything. please help

Postby rockcoach on 10 Nov 2015, 06:30

So I just bought Cross (FINALLYYYYYY). I was ready as hell to fire everything up and hooked my MIDI controller (Numark Mixtrack Pro II btw). had the mapping. Everything's working like a charm except.... I CAN'T HEAR ANYTHING.

I don't have speakers but I do have headphones. I hooked them up to the headphone jack in the controller. i went to the Audio area in Preferences and I don't really know what to do about the Audio routing mode.

I have used Serato Intro a few times and didn't have any problems at all when it came to using headphones. Is it possible to use headphones without any speakers while Djing with Cross? Is it not working because I'm using a desktop instead of a laptop (this is my first time using a desktop for DJ software, rather than laptop)

can somebody guide me here?

Basic routing is to select the ASIO mixtrack driver driver as soundcard (if this doesn't exist you 'd best to install ASIO4ALL).

If you have only 1 headphone you can do the following:

Output 1: to out3/4
Routing mode: simple stereo.

By this your headphone channel (out3/4) has become Main out of Cross. By selecting Simple Stereo the Cue channels are also set to Output 1.

The normal setup (with speakers) would be
Output 1: to out1/2
Output 2: to out3/4
Routing mode: Dual stereo.

This ain't the only useable options, but are the basics to start from.
Asio4all can be downloaded from asio4all.com. Install, select as soundcard in Cross, edit settings, select MTP as sc in asio4all menu.

You can also use the asio4all to e.g. use speakers of your laptop in combination with the headphone of your MTP.
For this click button at bottom right in asio4all menu. This allows to select multiple cards/channels. Only select those you need as each takes performance.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).
