May seem nice, but won't be a major benefit as once you're setup you'll hardly have the advantage.
What I think are disadvantages is that you use 8 times memory and 8 times more/longer disk access which may be more disruptive than fast one by one.
When working with 3-5 minute MP3 files this may still work smooth when you have a lot mem left and a fast ssd. However when running full video options Cross is still capable of more than most hardware can support.
And with 4k resolution coming it may become even harder to have spare capacity during peaks in usage.
But it may definitely be a feature for the future, esp. with 8 core getting affordable...
