External Mixer and Preview-Cue

Postby SilkCross on 12 Aug 2015, 21:24

Hi,

i will be routing Cross to an multicannel Firewire Audio-Interface on Mac-Mini.

Cross routing mode will automatically change.

"External Mixer":

Output 1 -> Cross Mixer A
Output 2 -> Cross Mixer B
Output 3 -> Cross Mixer C
Output 4 -> Cross Mixer D

All fine - but it missing a audio output for my track preview. I can't routing a preview songs in my headphones or audio cannel.

The routing mode "External Mixer Cue":

Output 1 -> Cross Mixer A, C
Output 2 -> Cross Mixer B, D
Output 3 -> PreviewCue (track preview)

is not my credo.

My proposal is, therefore, as follows. :idea:

Output 1 -> Cross Mixer A
Output 2 -> Cross Mixer B
Output 3 -> Cross Mixer C
Output 4 -> Cross Mixer D

Output 5 -> PreviewCue (track preview)

Is that quite possible and, if so, how do I handle it ?

thx

Though it seems a simple change it actually isn't. For many users this requires use of an other soundcard to get the 5th stereo channel. Quite often this will be another type so a other driver being active which will be cpu intensive.

Also some routing issues need to be resolved.

Just maybe something can be done in a next major release. But some more research needs to be done as both windows as osx are becoming harder to tune for DJ purposes.

Audio dropouts? Increase audio 'buffer size' value.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

Thanks so far, maybe an additional question on routing mode "External Mixer Cue“.

When the "External Mixer Cue“ is selected In the audio option, I miss all Cue Monitor buttons :cry: on the channel strip.
Is there a way to integrate it with? :idea:

BTW:
selected audio option and CPU performance. Which gradations are there?

thx

With current routing it would be useless as you need to handle Cue at your mixer (to not be in Main).
Only when Cue would be the 5th audio channel there is a requirement to have the Cue buttons in the GUI.

Use as few audio channels as possible. Further it is determined by the latency (buffer size). The lower the more CPU inyensive. The higher the more delay between your control and the result of the control command
