Mixvibes Cross Pack with external mixer/controller

Postby epitsenterr on 26 Jul 2015, 22:18

Hello Mixvibes community!

Im here to ask kind of suggestions to support my ideas.

I've been playing with Mixvibes Cross Pack with vinyls and external mixer for few years. Lately Im getting tired of always setting up everything before my set and in some occasions I rather just take my laptop and some controller with me which I can mix with.

Can I play correctly with this mixer:

Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol Z1 Lightning

Or what other mixers/controllers would you suggest me and what would fit mixvibes the best?

or could I use those for mixing also:

or

Thanks for your attention guys!

Take care!

Could also one way to be that I take my external Numark MK1 mixer and use it? and maybe add one of the above mentioned fx controller to set as well?

Well, I don't have any controllers as I have only 2 turntables, external mixer and Cross DVS.

Im just wondering which controller/mixer to choose in order to minimize my gear for some occasions.

hope im not too confusing?

There are so many options for minimal setups..

Traktor Z1 could be fine, but I assume the level meters
are almost impossible to program for Cross since it deals with some hybrid MIDI data.

Another similar would be Akai AMX which has a couple of extra
controls on it as well.

Or perhaps use a REAL mixer (such as you already have)
and a Allen & Heath K2 which has 2 stereo outputs (read somewhere that it has pretty low sound output though).

Another option is the discontinued Reloop Contour Interface Edition (I used these for a year or so) which has an excellent soundcard and many controls.

But my current setup is the most lightweight to date! :)
* Pioneer DJM-250 mixer
* Traktor Audio 2 (very small soundcard)
* Launchpad mini for controls (transport, cues, loops, fx)
Thinkpad X240, 8 Gb / 512Gb SSD
running Cross 3.4.3 64-bit

Thanks for great and informing answers!

This "real" mixer idea came through my mind as well. What about having it together with traktor x1?

Should probably work just fine (not sure if the X1 mk2 loop display numbers can be programmed for Cross though), and obviously you would still need a simple 2 stereo pair outputting soundcard. :)
