Hello,

There might be a dll conflict preventing Cross to load.

I don't know of any (easy to use) tools to diagnose the problem, but you can try the following:
Go to where Cross is installed. By default it's
Code: Select all
"C:\Program Files\MixVibes\Cross 3.3.10\win64"

You'll need to display hidden files for the next step: from "Folder Options" in explorer, "View" tab, select "Show hidden files".
You will then see a bunch of dll files in that folder.
Move the following file to a different folder:
Code: Select all
d3d9.dll

Once this file is no longer in the "win64" directory, try launching Cross from there and tell me, does it launch? and if so, does the video still work?

If you experience the same issue, try moving every dll file that starts with the letter "d" to a different folder; namely:
Code: Select all
D3DCompiler_43.dll
d3d11.dll
d3d8thk.dll
d3dx11_43.dll
d3dx9_43.dll
dxgi.dll

And try again.

OK, good news.
Tried moving (to a folder on my desktop) only the d3d9.dll file: didn't work for 32bit, didn't work for 64bit. Moved the rest of the D**.dll files for 32: it works! Loaded up my collection and am playing around with it now, seems to be fine. I don't care for video and can't really test that, same for the 64bit for the moment. I haven't installed my soundcard yet and I will keep you posted how that goes.

Thank you very much for providing a solution! Could you give me some insight as to what the moved .dll files do? Also, if you wish I can send the crash log's after just moving the d3d9 file, for your info?e files?
Can I deleted the moved files?

BtW: adding an option to the installer to either only install the 32 or 64 bit version would be great.

Thank you & keep you posted!

Great to hear that it's working :)

Yes you can delete the files you moved. I didn't ask you to delete them at first just in case I was wrong.

Those dll are shipped with Cross, in case Windows doesn't have them already. Apparently, you have them, and they changed enough to be incompatible... I already had seen the problem on a Windows 8.1 machine, I'm working on fixing the installer.

I don't think the crash log will have relevant info. It never tells which dll is effectively faulty... for instance, the last you sent specified an error in the system dll ("ntdll.dll") used for loading dll... no more clues.

Up until now we stuck to installing both 32bit and 64bit versions on 64bit machines for sound card compatibility purpose, but it may very well change in the future.

Thank you for the info about the crash logs. Cross doesn't crash anymore at startup, that issue seems to be resolved (32bit). Though my soundcard isn't working as it should.
I have gone back to the 1.0.1 driver for the U-Mix 44.
I am trying to control deck A with MV vinyl and deck B with a manual player or a duplicate of deck A. My settings are in enclosed png's.

I get visual feedback of the vinyl controlling deck a, but no sound via my external mixer on channel 1.
Deck B plays fine (without MV vinyl) through the external mixer on channel 2
If switch the output of deck A to outs 3/4 (channel 2) it will play audio through channel 2 and I am able to control the vinyl.
But then I can't play a track on Deck A , no sound coming to channel 1 of my external mixer.
I have checked both channels on my external mixer by switching everything around and they both work fine. So the problem seems to be how the U-Mix44 is communicating with windows?
Please look at the enclosed sreenshots. thank you.

Did you try ASIO4ALL, as RoJeC suggested?
With it, you will be free to use the 32bit or 64bit version of Cross; even though, it's not really necessary, if you don't use video, to use the 64bit version (i.e. you have the first option in video settings unchecked, so you don't load the video plugin).

Guys,

I bought the U-Mix44 specially to work with Mixvibes. That's soft and hardware designed by your team - that should work together. And now you recommend a third party audio driver?

I understand your confusion, but Windows evolve and the driver we offer hasn't. It has been discontinued on our side.
We now recommend to all Windows users to use the much more up-to-date, and very serious, ASIO4ALL.
On the plus side, it also allows you to use more than one sound card at a time, aggregating them into a virtual one.
