Autoplay question

Postby Maurillo1960 on 25 Mar 2015, 11:35

Hi,

i'm a registered user of CrossDJ.

is there any way to start tracks from very beginning in autoplay mode?

i found that traks are started after intro silence, or after some seconds of music where CrossDJ automatically sets the first CUE point.

sometimes this CUE point is set in a wrong way after the beginning of music.

thank you.

Unless I am mistaken, tracks start from the beginning, i.e. a certain level of sound. So yes, it should cut out a long silent intro. I consider that desired behavior. But I don't think it starts at the first beat.

You can also play with changing the setting of the lead-in time (default 2 seconds I think) if you like. And you can change all the parameters of the automix. Like the amount of time before the old track runs out before the new one should start playing.

Obviously you can do some stuff in preparation through beatgridding. Another option would be to go into something like Audacity and manually adapt the tracks to your liking.

All tracks start at the Cue point.

If you 'disagree' with the analyzed Cue point you can easily change this. (move to desired point and press Cue button or C key; if during active playback press Shift-C). The new point is saved with the track.

On analysis the Cue is set to the first downbeat. Though the algorithm is quite good, there keep being tracks that 'don't' fit.

When you change the Cue there is a fair chance the transitions in automix are less smooth. But some tracks just require to start from the start, even it breaks the flow...

My experience is that it often is better to keep the Cue and occasional move to the begin live (in headphone).

Thank you for your answers,

but, because i'm a Tango DJ, all my tracks must start at very beginning , without transition.
(just a bit before the beginning of music, as recorded in music files taken from CD or vinyl ...)

so, i need to change Cue point for every track?

Some other DJ software allow to permanently disable auto Cue function.

In fact how lead-in works, in relation with autoplay, is not so clear for me.

This is indeed one of the types of music that aren't targeted with Cross.

The lead in/out won't help you in autoplay. They do determine how far before the beginning of a track you could start. But Cross by itself is all about creating smooth non stop music flow.

The Cue can only be set at 0.00. When loaded in a deck you can move back to the beginning of the fade in time.

An Autoplay workaround, though not really convenient, could be to have each track in the list followed by a sample file with e.g. 2 seconds silence.

I think that with this type of music you'll have to use autofade time of 0.

Yes you'll have to reset your cues. Just make sure you have the tracks analyzed before you do this....
Easy way.... load tracks in autoplay so you can quickly load next. Start by putting in like 100 and soon you'll see how fast this is done....

MixVibes products have had several ways of determining Cue points over the last 15 years. The current method is simple and reliable.... for many users; hard to please all.. Sorry.

My autofade time is already set to 0 seconds, but as i told, CrossDJ set the first Cue point after the beginning of music on every song it load in the player, so it starts from there.
I have more then 13000 songs in my library, so yuu know, i can't set every Cue point to 0 for every song manually nor from autoplay ...
Maybe if Cue points are stored in CrossDJ database, i'll batch change it in any way?

Batch editing isn't possible.

It's not likely all your tracks will require this change. If you prepare a few hundred most used you'll cover a lot of gigs.

Ok,

i'm sure your current method to set Cue points it's mature and reliable, and i understood your opinion. but as a registered user could i ask, for future CrossDJ update, an option to disable auto Cue function?
Maibe you could expand your customers also to Tango DJ.

;)

many thanks.
