Background noise

Postby GillesVercant on 14 Jan 2015, 15:23

Hi,

Am having a minor issue lately using mixvibes. I am hearing a background noise only on the B channel. Its there either if the audio input is set to player and also in line weither there is a song playing or not. if i open my B or 2nd fader on the mixer am hearing this buzz. I cant seem to figure out what is causing the problem. Also the strange thing is its only on the B channel no noise on A what so ever. Maybe some of you guys can help? Thx in advance.

My Setup:

2xreloop rp6000 mk6b
Allen & heat xone23
Mixvibes 3.1.0

Hi,
Don't hesitate upgrading to 3.3.9... Not likely it helps but it is supposed to be more stable...

General steps
- Check if the monitor function in the soundcard is disabled.
- Check you have switches/settings all at Phono OR all at Line.
- disconnect both tt's to see if it disappears
- swap deck a/b input connectors in mixer (if change: swap at tt, so you know it's cable or tt as source).

Also your right tt might have the needle closer to a speaker..

Use one powersource (wall outlet) for all used sound equipment.

Hope these will help... if not let's know.
Ronald

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

Hi thx for the post.

So here is what i tried i changed all cables and TT's. it isn't a problem from the cable nor the TT. i can use the same cable and the same TT en send i to channel A and there is no noise at all. when i connect to channel b there is noise back on the channel. So clearly a problem in channel b of mixvibes i think?

There is 1 solution that i didn't tried and that is the monitor on the sound card. where exactly do i find this to dissable it ill give that a try too.

Maybe other solutions?

Usually monitoring is handled via settings of the sc driver. Sometimes a seperate addon program is provided by the manufacturer.

Did you also try connecting tt A to input B.

Could you try to describe the noise. Is like a hum (50 hz power...), is it changing (following the music).

Other solutions/ideas if it isn't just monitoring .....
Could it be an other program using the channel.
Is there dust/a hair in your input connector.
Is there an adapter close to channel B.
If you use a different soundcard for OUT (PC) do you still hear it.
Is Aux In set to none.
Are FX turned Off for channel B.

Yes i tried it is not the TT they both run without noise on channel A no problem. It seems to be louder when i am in line in on channel B than on normal player mode. And to describe the noise its stays constant when the channel is open but no song playing. When i play a song it even cracks a lil in the kick/ bass parts most common when i play on line/real vinyl.
