Video Codec and GPU questions

Postby redocoder on 03 Dec 2014, 17:45

What video codec should I use to encode my files for optimum performance?

It seems like all the video rendering load is on the CPU, is there any way to offload this to the GPU.

Are desktop GPUs not optimized for this type of work and I'd be better off with a workstation graphics card or is the GPU not being utilized?

Does Cross support the Hap codec?
If not this would be a good thing to implement.

1080p or 720p?
How many videos can you load before it starts to stutter?

hi redocoder

Sometimes use 1080p other 720p, this depends on the highest quality I can download each video.

Only load two at the same time (player A and B)

I WOULD USE Windows Media Video, but when I used this format, music and video were played out of sync. Since then only use mp4

can you recommend another format?
thanks

I've been using H.264 codec. WMV will not loop properly for me and stutters at the end of playback.
