There are standard mappings for the S1200 in Cross, they are on "the list".
What I failed to grasp was the concept of having to make one BIG mapping for all of it.
OK you dont have to have one big map for everything unless you want to quickly swith from using the DDJ-SX for decks 3 and 4 to using the 1200 for deck 3 and 4.
For now, before integrationkeep your DDJ-SX map intact.
Make sure left S1200 is set for channel 3
Make sure right S1200 is set for channel 4
Connect the DDJ-SX and pointed to its map
make a copy of the 1200 map
Connect the S1200 and point both of them to the copied map.
Modify the S1200 map copy to controls deck 3 and 4
Close the map
Close Cross
Locate the copied S1200 map in your directory.
Open it and modify every command in the output section to use channels 3 and 4 instead of channels 1 and 2.
Save the file and test.
To properly test
DDJ-SX is connected and pointed to DDJ-SX map.
Both S1200 are connected and pointed to the copied S1200 map.
You can do it this way or using one big map for everything.
in the One map for all scenario. It is easier to troubleshoot because there might be interaction between controllers depending on the channels and it is just easier to detect and correct using one file. It is also easier to remember on set-up to point all controllers to same map and forget about it (once the map is all worked out).
In fact this act as one huge controller using one huge map.
It is fact an "aggregated MIDI control device".
You would also be able to map advanced functions in which a button in say the DDJ-SX can actually modify the control behavior of the S1200 or vice-versa. (But that is another subject)
I have done this with
DDJ-SX, 2 Quneo controllers and a UMCP-2. In fact with a good map and a little more connections, I have been able to route TC to the UMCP-2 which then goes to channel 3 and 4 of the DDJ-SX and control video with channel 1 and 2 of the DDJ-SX.
