best sample rate?

hey guys

running Cross 3.3.1 (64 bit) on windows 7 using hybrid mode on vinyl

my question is what sample rate will give me the best sound quality, i mix mainly mp3s and understand they are 44khz so the same should be applied to the software processing it? i have read a few times that the higher you set the sample rate the better job the software will do on altering the pitch/tempo is this true? ive tried doing A-B tests and there is a difference, but im having difficulty figuring what is best, was after a definite answer

non Cross related, i know that when i record at 24bit 44khz there is definitely a difference when recording at 24bit 96khz, the sound seems deeper, and this is just cassette/vinyl recordings

also should i be touching any of the settings in control panel on each of my outputs/inputs [bit depth sample rate in shared mode]

For playback there is very little point in anything above 16bit 44.1khz.
Those values weren't plucked from thin air, they were designed to encompass virtually all that humans can hear.

Anyone who says 16bit doesn't have enough dynamic range for playback is fooling themselves. Especially considering nearly all dance music now is compressed to almost the same volume throughout.

Some people do say that higher sampling rates do sound better.. but when your source material is 44.1 anyway, theres no point in playing it back at higher.

Editing and recording is a different matter.

More important usually is the bitrate. 320 is a minimum for good quality recording. A good installation provides a different experience when using better quality.

When you slow down playback all your input parameters deliver less quality. 44 at half speed is 22....

Improving quality is basically not possible.

Buying WAVs or AIFFs instead of mp3s will likely improve quality more than higher sample rates.

i made a post about the same thing a few months ago and i would recommend going WAV AIFF or very HQ MP3 quality like 320 off the rip u will see a big diference
