Specific system requirements...laptop

Postby DJDogbone on 17 Oct 2014, 04:49

I was reading the Cross DJ system requirements and they were a little vague on the CPU side.

Currently, I've been using a dual Quad Core DESKTOP for a system (dual quad-core ZEON)

Is Cross strictly an INTEL CPU application or can I consider quad-core AMD machines for my laptop?

I know that Serato only supports INTEL and I wondered if this was true for Cross DJ. I can get a lot more machine for less money if I can consider AMD machines....if it has to be INTEL, is an i5 enough processing power to run/mix video loopson players 1/2 AND mix music on players 3/4 without issue?

  well now ,,, general knowledge from experience ,, ran a amd duo core ,,2.3 gkz ,, with a 1 gig video card ,, and even had vista ,, up till about 3 month ago ,, it died ,, it ran well but struggled with the cpu and video usage ,, now running intel to the spec listed and havent had any issues
saw earlier that the intell sandy bridge has some issues,, but not due to the software but the hardware of the processor  dont think you will have any problems ,, but nessary to upgrade your processor level due to needs of the newer ver being more feature intensive and demanding cpu wise

So is the i5 OK, or should I be thinking dual core i7? The Quad i7 is out of my range.

Right now, I have my eye on an i5 with a 128g SSD. Plan to keep the audio on an external. the other option is to get a 1T internal with a hybred drive.

i have an asus k75vj its also a intel core i5 2.60 Ghz (Ivy Bridge) and 3.2 with boost with a 1tb hdd and i have NOOOO ISSUES! ivy bridge is a second edition to the sandy bridge and intel is just a better handler of audio. thats why Apple has the intel based computers/laptops.....plus audio is more stress than video, i would suggest going on newegg where they have a crapload of refurbished laptops for pretty much any price range. mine is a 900 laptop that i paid only 538 for and i am so happy! so u could possibly find something on there for the price and have something thats totally worth the cash!
