Hi guys,
Just to let you know, ... today i went to a Pioneer Store in the Netherlands to buy an DDJ-SZ and they've never heard about Cross before (shame on them) so i've connected my Macbook in the shop and tried out the DDJ-SZ before purchasing it.
Well, ... using the DDJ-SX mapping you could use the most features of Mixbives.
- rotating knobs to select a song from your collection = ok
- Select players A, B, C of D = ok
- Play, Cue, HotCue, auto loop, Toggle auto-cue, loop in, loop out, seek, pitch, reverse playing, sync, ... they all work. You can even make 8 cue points in one track because there are 8 pads
- audio driver = ok
- there is even a button on the left top of the DDJ-SZ that standard selects 2 of 4 players
- needle search works fine
- slip mode works fine
- jog wheel works fine
- Nice feature on the DDJ-SZ is the Oscillator
- At the Pad keys, ... functions HotCue and Roll works fine, ... Slicer doesn't seem the have a function
- At the Pad Keys, ... if you use a sample deck you can use the 8 pad keys to make samples and you can use the Shift+keypad to delete a sample
The things that won't work very good are the FX settings because the DDJ-SZ has more knobs than the Cross functions and the text on the DDJ-SZ buttons doesn't 100% match the functions in Cross.
But i've tried to add MIDI mappings by duplicate the DDJ-SX mapping and it works.
So, everyone out there, ... the DDJ-SZ is a great controller for MixVibes Cross and please forget Serato!!! Cross Rocks!!!
ps: by the way, ... even the video mixing does work with the DDJ-SZ
ps2: Maybe MixVibes can come up with a perfect MIDI mapping?!
