Cross sometimes doesn't respond to slow record movements

Postby DJ Vert on 17 Jun 2014, 01:53

Hello everyone,

I'm using MixVibes Cross 3.1.0 with the U46MK2, external mixer and the timecode vinyls. The problem I've always had is that the program would sometimes be unresponsive to slow record movements (which is not what you want for cueing up a track (with baby rubs), and scratching in general. My workaround has always been rebooting the computer, reinstalling the U46MK2, reinstalling MixVibes. Even doing all three would only sometimes work. I don't know why.

I'm sick of doing this as it can take forever of trying with no results. Surely some of you out there have come across this problem, and hopefully know how to fix this issue.

Are there particular settings that I need? The weird thing is if I just leave the turntable spinning with the track loaded, it would play normally beyond a certain rpm but say I switch the turntable off and let it wind down slowly, the track will eventually cut off. It all seems to be related to how fast the vinyl is spinning.

Gave up last night. Tried again today and after re-installing the U46MK2, MixVibes decided to work again.

Recalibrated the timecode vinyls while I was at it. (See picture below.)

Any ideas on why it's so temperamental? I can't keep rebooting and/or re-installing.

So no one has encountered this problem or uses timecode vinyls? What are the chances of someone from MixVibes shedding some light on this matter?

Why do you have your input set to line...and not phono
You are using Vestax PDX 2000 .....you need to set the inputs to phono
Look at your screen shot two ....it's set to line

You also need to adjust your tone arm wait because you have a lot off black snow ( all the little black dots ) in you time code config

Black snow can be ...Dirty vinyl or needles or to much wait on your needles

They usually are set to phono but I left it set to line-in when I was trying to find out how to fix this issue (I was testing everything.) Screen captures were taken before I set them back to phono.

Anyway, figured out how to resolve the problem for anyone that's interested. Recalibrating the timecode vinyls seems to fix it.

Ah, thanks for the tip regarding the black specks. I have both tonearms set to 1 and don't really want to go higher than that. When you say the specks might be related to tonearm weight, do you mean it's too heavy or too light?

My needles are very old, could be that. Timecode vinyls are pretty clean.

Good to hear...two other thing to do is lower you latency setting 256 5.5 ms is to hight ....try 128 or if you can try 96 before you get audio pop & clicks or audio drop-outs

And what I do is to adjust the gains in the time code config
So the vinyl config circles sit inside the little grid square inside the config box...

If your needles are old that's why you have the snow....try to give them a clean

Thanks a lot for your input, wazza!

I'm fairly sure I couldn't change the latency settings for some reason (so it's left on the default setting) but I'll check again. I'll also tweak the timecode gain levels as you've suggested.

Nice one, wazza.

If your mixing at home you will not have to lower your gain
If your in a loud club the bass from the clubs sound system can send vibrations through your turntable back into Mixvibes ...so lowing your gains can help ......at home you be ok
