When does the Auto Limiter kick in ?

Postby iwaiwa on 10 Jun 2014, 08:23

Hi,

I love everything about MixVibes CrossDJ except one thing.

I use MixVibes to ReMix songs and use internal Audio Recording.

A 1 khz 0db Signal in Deck A with Audio Recording (doesn't matter if I pick Recording Source A or Mix) and all CrossFaders turned off, gives me a 0 db wave file output (I can see / confirm this in Adobe Audition Wave Editor).

But, MixVibes constantly analyzes the resultant 0 db (1khz signal) WAV file as -6 db.

Thus when I load the resultant (audio recording) WAV files to use during my sets, the Gain is -6 db and I have to 1) first load it into Collections so I can see the Gain column and 2) manually set it to 0 db every (first) time I load a track that I remixed in MixVibes.

This causes many more steps I have to go through to reMix my tracks in MixVibes and is frustrating. Why should I lose -6 db every single time I record something and have to manually correct.

I've tested Traktor Pro 2 and Traktor doesn't have this problem. A 1khz 0db Track records out at 0 db and the Resultant Recording WAV loads and plays in a different deck at 0 db exactly (every time).

- Please let us know when the Auto Limiter comes in, since there is no option for Limiter On / Off in the Prefs or on the program's interface.

- Please see if we can correct the analyzer so that 0 db audio signals analyzes at 0 db and the proper Gain value is set with the Track.

Lastly, the Pref: "Read Track Gain at Load" doesn't affect the Gain level knob, so what's the point ?

Thanks for listening.

For the technical part likely someone of the devteam has to answer you.

- Limiter can be switched of in Preferences | Audio
- Read gain is about the track-gain as in the collection record. The Deck-gain fader is different. (not sure if you mistyped or was not aware of this).
