Securing to a metal plate

Hi guys

I'm wondering whether it's possible to secure the U-Mix Control to a metal plate, by removing one or two of the screws from the bottom, and replacing them with longer screws, going through a metal plate.

I'd prefer to do something like that rather than glue something to the bottom of the unit. See image:

thinking that kinda chancy ,, thoese small screws might be holding a piece of electronics to gether ,, adding a longer screw and a piece of metal and the tourque to keep them together might damage what there attached too

what are you trying to accomplish

I imagine those screws would most likely be attached to the top deck, rather than any PCBs.

It's to ensure that it doesn't slide about on a shelf, without needing to go to the effort of making a "coffin", which would be tricky due to needing to have slots for all of the connectors etc.

what type of shelf ,, why not put keeper tabs on the shelf simpler and safer ,plus keeps the unit mobile

The metal plate itself would be bolted down to the shelf - and would be easy to remove.

Corner mounts are another possibility - something I have in mind for the laptop. I could even use cams.

unless you take it apart and see that the screws you are trying to use can support the weight/tourque put on them ,,better to go with my suggestion ,,simple 1/4" tabs of wood screwed down on to the shelf in the center postion of the bottom edge and two on each side of the controller ,,should keep it stable/not moving and wont damage the controller ,, or even metal L brackets placed in same postion on the shelf ,,seems easire and less chance of problems ,,

what version of the software are you running ,, and your os ,, xp

V3.1, on XP SP3

Corner mounts would be on the shelf, with cams on top to lock the unit down.

Cam as in a disc with an off-centre hole.

surprized at xp ,, had hard enuff time running vista and a duo core ,, more power to you ,,forced into vista with newer computer in 2006 and now 8.1 with this one ,,
