Cross/CDJ HID issues

Postby Vernon on 26 Apr 2014, 16:52

Hello,

I am trying to connect my CDJ2000s in HID advanced mode...as I have done with Recordbox and a CAT6 network hub successfully in the past.

I have...

Cross DJ 3.1.0
2xCDJ2000
Macbook Pro 2.3 GHz Intel core 7
OSX 10.9.2
CDJ aggregator installed(Pioneer CDJ)
In Cross Core audio is set to "Pioneer CDJ"
Audio output 1 is set to 1/2
Audio output 2 is set to 3/4
Routing mode is set to external mixer(mixer also connected properly)
CDJs are set to decks A and B
CDJs are in HID advanced mode
CDJs have firmware 4.32 installed

The problem is that the audio from both Cross decks comes through both CDJs and the selector dial on one CDJ scrolls the screen on both CDJs..

Also, how can i search on the CDJs for key, artist etc?

Thanks in advance!

Don't know to many of your setup. It could be that your Cue channel gets the audio from the Mix knob fader. Please make sure it is fully counter clock (=Cue only) and not in a different position (= mix Cue and master).

A quick alternative (if not the above) would be to switch the USB cables (and restart Cross after the hardware was properly installed by the OS.

Audio dropouts? Increase audio 'buffer size' value.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

Hello,
Something disturbs me. You can't use HID with Cross DJ only Cross does it. If you need full Cdj control then you need to upgrade see the site for that.

Ok that's different.
I think the answer is on your cdj setup you should check your Pioneer docs. You need to explain to each unit what to do.
I can't tell you more as I don't use Cdj.

You said they are set to decks A and B, but where? In Cross?

Did you set the MIDI channel on both CDJs as well? If they have the same number (typically 1 as factory default), as far as the computer is concerned they are the same thing. That could cause this behaviour I think.

Hi,

First mistake, rekordbox doesn't use HID, and HID in any case doesn't work via ethernet. So, both setups are completely different. Don't try to have the same behavior.

This sounds correct.

These is quite impossible with the above settings.

This is a normal behavior as you might have noticed CDJs act like controllers, controlling the software. This means, when you scroll, you scroll the list on Cross screen, and Cross list state is then sent to the CDJs. All HID compatible apps behave like this.

You can't search from the CDJ in HID mode. You must grab you mouse/keyboard and type in Cross.

MIDI channels have nothing to see with HID, good try though ;)

Well, from the info we got, I can't see anything wrong in your config... I do nothing more do make it work... Try to relaunch CDJ aggregator (this one might be capricious...), who knows!

When you made the aggregated device did you name it Pioneer CDJ?
if not and you choose Pioneer CDJ in audio setting instead of the aggregated device it only uses 1 of the CDJ's as sound card.
