3.1 upgrade process

Postby Nutty667 on 10 Apr 2014, 20:59

I don't like the way Cross installs 3.1 alongside 3.0. With Rekordbox you only ever have the latest version installed. Why cant the installer for Cross remove the old one ?

Also, after manually uninstalling 3.0 I no longer have any of the samples under Tracks -> All samples. Is this why the 3.1 download was only 90 meg compared to 200 odd for the original download ?

Also after using the uninstaller for 3.0, it still left the 3.0 folder behind under Mixvibes in program files.

Many DJ's want multiple versions installed. By that they can get familiar with new options without being forced to use it during their next gig.
Some also need more time due to their way of working.
Folders remaining are mostly caused by other issues. If any file is created in a folder after initial install the folder cannot be deleted by the installer as Windows does not allow this.

Soundcard not available/working? Try the 32bit version of Cross (is also installed).

what samples are you asking about the free loopmaster samples or your own samples ,,the loop master are in the download section and are avaible ,,yours might be gone by the way they were installed and how the software was uninstalled :?:

Think it went different:
install 3.1: detected tracks to exist.
then uninstall 3.0: tracks uninstalled as well.

Don't think install for PC ever was 200; MAC is.

I think reinstall 3.1 will do; else download as suggested by Daniel to be independent of install program.

The 3.0 download zip I bought is 224MB.

It seems the samples are still there, under Music->MixVibes->DemoSamples, but I have to manually re-add them to Cross 3.1.

It might be the webshop has a somewhat different content as the download area which likely explains the files received.

An uninstall should not change the collection content.

Before adding you might want to check if the 'tracks' are still present in the collection. If so a red mark will appear at the left of the track. This indicates 'missing track'.
The easiest is to goto the menu | Collection | resolve missing tracks.

If you point one to the 'new' location Cross will ask if the same should be tried for the other missing ones.
