Right-Click in MediaBase not working

Postby bostonDJ on 12 Feb 2014, 17:40

Hello,
When I Right-Click in the MediaBase or even selecting a song and right-clicking, using Vfx Control, I am supposed to get a contextual menu. It used to work but no more. I have to do all my edits & analyse functions by using the Control bar. Is there an underlying setting in preferences or the mapping area to get this functioning back?
Thanks in advance....

Just found the setting. On the Main Header Menu go to Options--> and uncheck Security. The 'right click' functionality comes back but it also allows you to load media onto an active deck that is already playing media. Not a good trade-off!! You better set Security on during a gig. This was a somewhat poor design. Why not just enable right clicking all the time just like in an OS environment. Then the Security setting would have made more sense to protect an active deck from being killed during a song or whatever media is playing. Anyway....solved...

Strange situation. Did not use to be related to the security feature.
Development stopped on Vfx after version 1.3.1. So what OS are you using it on? Might be not supported.
New video is in the Cross line. A new video engine has been build using todays abilities. I'm not sure how the upgrade path is from Vfx to Cross or Cross DJ. Please check with UncleVibes by PM.

I am using Win 7 64-bit. I have many other issues I've been trying to work thru for about a year like playing .swf, .avi & .mov files. Vfx seems to favor .mp4 files so I am trying to convert everything (video related), to .mp4. The manual says it supports all of these medias listed above and thensome. It does NOT work smoothly with my software. It's been an uphill battle ever since I purchased Vfx & Control.

Anyway I have looked into other options & other software designs but want to see it fully through with Vfx. I am wondering if Cross DJ is more stable than Vfx? I read many posts where people are still having problems with plugins and even 3.0. Maybe I should wait for newer releases of Cross to come out.

I need something MORE STABLE than Vfx at this point. I would actually be willing to give up a few features to gain stability.

Any thoughts about migrating from Vfx to Cross DJ would be appreciated....thanks

Vfx has not been designed for W7. ie it functions, but the engine is older. MV apparently decided to go for a new engine. I haven't used Vfx since the first video dll (being member of beta test test team). The dll now is integrated. It does happen that the software occasionally might crash. Don' think Vfx and W7 are better. This weekend I forgot to turn of my PC and had Cross running from Friday morning (while working) untill now. So non stop for 3,5 days. Every user is always urgently invited to provide any info that could lead to eliminating problems.
Sofar Cross is compiled 32-bit for Windows. Likely when all components become 64 it will open new frontiers once more; just like the response of the linux users tell.
If you are into video a lot, please consider the Cross (full) as it has videosamplers in addition to Cross DJ (see comparison chart).

Converting video must feel like a waste of time and never improves quality. I really recommend to ask UncleVibes for upgrade costs (tell what your purchased when). Can't promise anything and all suggestion are ment to let you know; always easy to tell how people can spent their money.

Yes, converting video, close to 1000 has taken me a couple of months to convert and I'm still doing it. I purchased the Vfx Control & Vfx software based on the recommendations from moderators on this site. They seemed very knowledgeable and helped me get a good start. They were certain Vfx works with Windows 7 64-bit. The video card was a big part of making Vfx work. I made sure I had all the bases covered and have spent over $1200 in hardware (computers, sound cards, etc...) and software. I just feel that MV is unstable. It acts like a ghost that can rear its ugly head at any moment. It can crash at any given moment but may also work for 3 hours straight. I was expecting more from this product but love the theory behind what it 'SHOULD' do. It really can be a fantastic product. That's why I am asking, is Cross 3.0 (Full) recommended for use on Windows 7 64-bit? I need clrification before I buy the wrong thing and end up entering into a money pit syndrome. I still have not lost faith in this product but maybe I need to upgrade to Cross. Does it work with the Vfx Control and Win 7 64-bit? Please advise....

Also, forgive me but is Uncle Vibes a moderator? Can he help me out of this situation? Thanks...

Hello,
We made the choice to stop Vfx software and to rebuilt the functions within Cross engine
Cross now include all last 2 years of development concerning video.
It is made for both windows 7/ 8 and Apple OSX hardware

Cross doen't need any extra codec. The decoder of video files use native ressources.
The equipment you use today with Vfx is of course compatible.

You can test the video with Cross DJ free but you won't be able to use your MIDI controller as this version is of course a limited edition.

There is an upgrade offer on the site. We can't give a good support or change anything about Vfx in 2014.

UncleVibes knows the past and future. quite more than any moderator.

pretty sure all moderators shared their experiences. lots of changes went on in video in the last years. feels like doing the same. but more frames more dpi larger screens different way drivers work from 7. etc. Something like One step for man Giant leap for VJ-kind was needed. and created.
