Album Art AIFF format

Postby SpeakerHandz on 09 Oct 2013, 05:17

Hello Mixvibes Community,
Rather new to the Mixvibes community, and probably 2 days into using mixvibes Cross 2.6.
I am quite happy with the rekordbox sync function, which is working as advertised.

My issue is with Album arts. It shows up in Rekordbox after rekordbox Sync, but it doesnt show up in Mixvibes Cross 2.6. I organize my music via iTunes (10.7). I purchase all my music from Beatport and are in the AIFF format. Which in my case i have all my music with album art, which i tend to rely on to get a quick look at what song im looking at. I searched for a while, but the solutions are Windows based. I would like an efficient, easy way to get hte album art issue resolved! any help is appreciated!

Cross doesn't handle AIFF tags (including artworks), sorry.

wow, very unfortunate turn of events with the Cross not handling the AIFF files. It's quite shocking as Rekordbox handles it just fine. So there is no way for me to have the album arts?

Please be precise in your statements, Cross handles AIFF files, it just can't read/write metadata from them.

There's nothing shocking, as rekordbox is a Pioneer product (made by MixVibes but owned by Pioneer) and Cross a MixVibes one.

Right now, unfortunately not, apart from converting them to another format (mp3, m4a, ALAC, OGG, etc.).

Thanks for the replies, I do not plan to convert my music to any other format in the time being.

For now i guess I'll just hope Cross eventually allows the reading of AIFF files. It reads my tags currently fine, just no album art

That's impossible, Cross doesn't read no AIFF tags.

I assure you i see all my info, like album name, artist, grouping, comments, bpm etc.
The only thing i do not see is the album art. There is no reason for me to lie about it lol.

Ok, I think I get it.

You add these tracks in Cross via iTunes, right ?
Then all the meta info displayed are those stored by iTunes in its own xml file, not those contained in the track tag.

iTunes doesn't store artworks in its xml file, then we can't import them as well.

For M4A or MP3, Cross will load the artwork directly from the tag, but for AIFF or WAV, as it doesn't read tags, it can't !

hmmm, i wonder if doing a test with AIFF files just moving some songs to a organizing folder thats not operated by iTunes, and then export from that would let the album art show up? Must test, stay tuned
