ION Discover DJ upgrade 2.5.0 and stutter cue vs vinyl mode

Postby roelandjansen on 10 Aug 2013, 23:49

all,

searched quckly here in the forum but couldn't find concusive answers (well found several dead links).

My little girl will become 8 yo and as she likes playing with my gear (CDJ850s DJM850) I decided to give her a ION discover DJ controler so that she can play herself. She really likes it ;-)

I did find that the original (1.3.2.?) s/w was ... well limited a bit and I upgraded to Cross as suggested on this website.

Now, I was hoping to find how to put the decks in vinyl (not scratch or stutter cue) mode -- did I really miss that option or isn't it there?

hya,

no in fact the USB ports of the CDJs are virgin .... I am not really a controller DJ -- my hands are too big (ok, for the CDJs it's not true) and grabbing keyboards, mice to control stuff is not really my thing.

Only reason for having windows is to be able to record off the DJM850 mixer. (waiting for some open source su\olutions to happen there to use audacity/linux -- audacity/windows loads *slow* and on same hardware isn't capable of high bitrates and large number of bits (16/24/32) compared to linux). And the other reason is the fact that my daughter, turnining 8 in 2013 will have her own mixvibes and controller ....

I might try though ..

If you still have a copy of the MIDI map file please send it to me.
i will examine the file to see what needs to be updated for versions 2.5 and 2.6.

Caveat: the MIDI signals from the scratch/search button on the ION discover is a little different than other controllers because it sends a constant MIDI signal when in scratch mode. I might be able to work around that by assigning a multiple function to the button. However, we may have to work back and forth until is perfect. Since I don't own the controller, I would need you to test it and give me feedback until it is just right.
