What's this screenshot for?

If not turning grey, you need to check no other software is running and using the MIDI controller.
If not, you must find on the Numark side, what's needed to have the Mixtrack work in any software (any driver needed?).

which tab do you mean? by the MIDI mapping? the thing is it works with serato intro perfectly. is ther anything else i can do?

If mean the tab named "Mixtrack pro" in the MIDI settings.

Moreover, it might be possible Serato embed some drivers, and you need to install some other stuff to run it in Cross. I can't help more, I don't know this controller. All I can say: when a controller is correctly working, Cross has no problem to handle it...I my opinion, the issue is not in Cross, but in your system.

ok. now its wworking. but nothing coming out of headphones. and deck B is layed out as if im using an external mixer

i have just restarted it and now it is working perfectly but the headphones ant working. i used another soundcard and i could use headphones whilst using that. and if i use the laptop speakers it works just fine. just need to get the headphones working

Jim B gave you the solution for this:

Re-install the ASIO driver and as SylMV has said, you need to select the Numark ASIO driver from the sound card drop down

Choose

Output 1 - Output 1&2, Main Output
Output 2 - Output 3&4, Headphone Output

Audio Routing - Dual Stereo

thanks. ive manged to solve the issue. i hadnt connected to a speaker. i connected to the tv and it all worked fine. as soon as i removed it i couldnt hear from the headphones again
