Set song tempo to 133.333 bpm

Postby djeksotik on 07 Apr 2013, 01:36

I wish I could take a song that´s for example 100 BPM, and have it sped up so it´s 133.333 bpm (or sped down if it was higher than 133...) - I am using control vinyl - then I would adjust the pitch on my turntable to cancel out the software pitch change.
The point of this is, when you look at the vinyl like a clock, and you have a marker (like Cross records do) like one hand of the clock, then when starting beat 1 at 12 o´clock for example, beat 2 would always be at 3 o´clock, beat 3 at 6 o´clock and beat 4 at 9 o´clock.
Turntablists know what I am talking about, this would make an instant "skipless record" out of any song, and would help with juggling and stuff like that.
I guess this could be done manually but quikly on a song you haven´t prepared...? Would be cool if there was a fast way to do this.. maybe there is ?

PS: think about it, the beats would form a Cross on the vinyl ;D, so you should be the first to have the "skipless" button or whatever it should be called.

I know what you're talking about but don't understand why you need a button for this?

To do it fast without fiddling around much with the keyboard/mouse.

I haven´t used MIDI to control Cross yet, but am planning to.. would there be a way to map this to a button "change player A/B pitch to 133.." ?

One measure on one turn in short.
And, with an instant button...

A very turntablist oriented feature. Gone are the old day of cutting your own track into a DAW.

More seriously, this will stretch any sound to 133,33 to fit, so from the start the grid and the BPM need to be accurate to ensure precise beats position on the platter revolution. So anyway this need some preparation.

Simply change the BPM of the track won't make it fit into this 4 quarter pie.

Well, ideal turntablist feature would be:
1) press button to set track to 133..
can this be done with mapping?
2) adjust pitch, an indicator light in the software shows when you´re back at absolute 0 pitch. similar to how a Technics 1200 pitch ligh indicates when it´s at 0.

Whole thing would take a few seconds max.

But there´s another way achieve smth similar - "adopt pitch" or smth...
It would look like this:

1)change player mode to flex mode, so the vinyl doesn´t affect it.
2)adjust turntable pitch so it makes 1 rotation during 1 measure.
3)change player back to absolute/relative mode, but adopt the current vinyl speed as 0, i mean that the playing track doesn´t slow down, speed up to "match" the turntable speed.

Maybe this could be done with one of the existing pitch modes, but to be honest I´ve never quite understood the pitch modes and they don´t seem to function like that..

I´m not going to start cutting up songs on a DAW while playing a gig

PS: Why not include a turntablist specific feature and become the best DVS for turntablism/hiphop dj-s :D
