Some Ideas for Cross

Postby Di Rossi on 27 Mar 2013, 21:56

OK let me put some things i like to see on my Cross
1- The Fx zone : I think that the Fx is not quiet keeping up with the Cross evolution, i honestly think that is a minus thing about Cross, in particular the Echo Fx, being that one of my must have effect, i use it a lot on the Pioneer DJM 2000, and this particular effect is not even close that what we have on Cross, the echo not doing the standard parameters of the "normal" echo 3/4 and so one.
One of the others things is the introduction of new effects, like Reverbs, and many others. All we no that in some gigs we gone be standing on mixer that even get Fx zone and we have to work with the built effects on the Cross and for many many times that affect the Set , at least for me affect.

2- Like i already write on the forum, i think that the incorporation of a MIDI clock, was a huge step for Cross, so be be able to work alongside with other programs like Ableton Live, Fl Studio or even Traktor (if you work with a partner for example).

3- The color wave forms, hummmm seems that help, others say not, but that will be cool, but whit out loosing identity, keep up the same colors that characterize Cross, maybe some more or less orange or more or less Red, for example.

In summit, of all the aspects i refer, for me the most important is the FX Zone, i think that could be work out and some kind of rebuild on the Echo Fx, and introduction of new ones, like Reverb....

So tell me what you people think... :)

I agree with all of your ideas Rossi  They have all been suggested as far as I know as well, so I'm sure that the team is working on them.

I use the DB4 fx more that I would any other FX because they are hardware based and just sound amazeballz, but I do agree that the number 1 area in need of improvement would be the FX. I would like it though if MixVibes does it right like they do so many other things. Don't give us some cheeze flangers, or stutters/chopper garbage that when used correctly still sounds gimmicky. Take the time, and give us some real quality FX on par with the sound engine, library management, and stability. That's how they do though, so I'm not going to rush em.

Agree 100% with this. The quality stuff takes time to implement properly though. The one thing I really miss in Cross is a Dry/Wet knob. I don't really understand why this is left out? I feel like it has kinda been moulded into both the amount & depth knobs (which vary from effect to effect), but they should actually each have their own functionality. Also - the saving of fx settings is also a huge must. Trying to enable & "dial-in" a certain effect to be used for a couple of seconds is virtually impossible to do without saved "presets".
keep up the same colors that characterize Cross, maybe some more or less orange or more or less Red, for example.
Sorry to say, I don't agree with this. You either have full on hi-quality color waveforms with the color representing frequency characteristics (the reason it's there - not to look pretty) or you don't. Putting in a half-spec'd color waveform to keep "identity" would be a bad mistake. Neither Serato or Traktor have lost any identity for using proper frequency based color waveforms. Please Mixvibes - if you gonna do this, do it "all or nothing"

The beta of Deckadance 2 has a very interesting approach to smart-knobs and FX, which is worth looking at. However, the FX themselves are... not very good. VST support though
