Just bought Vfx controller and it's way too buggy! Help??

Postby Steve Alexander on 07 Mar 2013, 03:04

Hello. I am new to mixvibes as I just bought the Vfx controller. While the idea is amazing, the implementation is extremely buggy and unstable. So many things crash this software, rendering my purchase completely unusable. I've tried it on both a MacBook pro running windows and a lenovo e530 without success.
Now I see that Vfx has been discontinued and I have been offered a free Vfx plugin if I buy Cross. So before I spend even more money, is the plug in stable?
The most annoying feature of Vfx is relating to playlists. The #panel is greyed out and the playlist orders are different every time I open them. Does anyone have a work around for this?
Cheers

Windows only ; that's why I was running it on windows only. Mac hardware was actually more stable than the Lenovo.
I have searched through this forum and I cannot find the answer to this playlist problem. That would at least be a start. Can you please help?

Did you try to reset.exe from the install folder ?

I did. It worked better than the re-install but has not resolved the issue. I tried it again and at least it has restored the # function. Problem is it jumbles the order up every time I open Vfx. It can't even store this info. It is an extremely simple function!? I cannot do sets without a playlist. It's ridiculous.
You just took $800 of my cash so if I cannot even use it then I want a refund.

The playlist never moved, so I don't understand.
How do you create the playlist ?

I have tried everything. Before I came to the forum I read the whole manual and went through every single tutorial you have on YouTube. So I have tried adding a track, one at a time even, to the prepare tab, both via drag n drop and right clicking track, then selecting duplicate from the prepare tab and it maintains the order I added them in. I save the mediabase. Then I close Vfx and re open it. Now when selecting the same playlist, or even the prepare tab, the order is mixed up randomly.
I have tried creating a new playlist and right clicking tracks and adding them directly to the playlist.
I have also tried creating groups with the same result.

Cross with video plugin very is stable. i had issues with Vfx also it didn't perform so well on the (hp pavilion dm4) but Cross with video plugin on the same (hp pavilion dm4) has been great.

if you can, i would recommend you go for Cross(for DVS and controller) or crossdj (if you will only use a controller). And you will be able to use your Vfx controller.
i know it might be painfull spending more money but with Cross and video plugin i think it is weath it.

Best the price: 45€ / 50$ for an upgrade to Cross.
As Vfx user for you the plug in is free

thanks everyone for the replies.
I'm trying to figure out the difference between Cross and Cross DJ.
Less features with CrossDJ? (I checked the product comparison chart but I'm just checking with real user experiences)
So you are saying if i use the Vfx Control, just get crossdj?
Vfx vs video plug in wise - do you lose any features in the plug in? Like fx etc? I read somewhere there is no titler in the plug in?
Cheers
