Beat grid editing issue > crash

Postby discopex on 03 Mar 2013, 05:43

Something happened tonight, I was moving the beatgrid when somehow the beatgrid kept on moving and wouldn't stop. It didn't change the direction either when I tried. When I stopped playback ans loaded another track the program simply quit, no error (Windows) error message either. I think I've had this issue happen once before, the beatgrid moving by itself. Unfortunayely I cannot tell any certain conditions that this occurred under as this was mid-set. Could this be a problematic mp3 file somehow? I played the same song over after restart without problems.

Another weird thing too tonight: the pitch percentage kept displaying 1.00% even with pitch reset and the bpm displaying the song original bpm. This happened on one deck (the right one) only and it would also throw the tune out of sync. Even weirder, thr problem went away by itself after a while, it stayed for a few songs.

Don't know for the beatgrid but, we have a fix for a similar crash into the actual beta 2.4
Concerning the 1% pitch, how was the signal at that time ? If the software display 1% even at 0 pitch this means the signal is not was it was supposed to.
Any heater or freezer that have started at this moment ?

The signal ? I don't touch gain settings in the box but use external mixer setup, hardware-wise there was nothing special going on. :)

The timecode signal ?
Preferences / Vinyl-CD

How is this signal when you have the pitch issue ?

So I guess you are sending a pitch bend command (keyboard or MIDI).
Check mappings.

Hmm that could well be right as pitch bend does not affect BPM display (though it really should, perhaps on the to-do list hehe). Maybe a pitch bend button then got stuck somehow. Thanks a lot, should've figured it out by myself..

In the old times BPM was affected by bend and timecode vinyl variation and people were always complaining about it

People are now afraid of analogue thing.

For instance in cars :
VAG (VW, Audi, ect) have the coolant temperature gauge that is always set on the central position (must be something like 85°C)
but in fact the real temperature is somewhere between (65°C and 95°C).
In that case, people were (also) afraid of the gauge moving up and down while driving !
