I suggested this as a cause. Change in the vector/graphics of Cross window was suggested was identified as a maybe. Can I go back to 2.1 without breaking my library?

Just back it up and try, also back up the peak-folder. Do you use iTunes? No? Start doing so

I dont wanna come off like a prick, but building a database takes 2 minutes for me, simply because I organize in iTunes and therefor am independent from incompatable database files. |

Haha! It's fine, you're just trying to help. I do use iTunes and yeah, I know it's pretty easy.

I always go through the same procedure when testing, optimizing the notebook...

I just had a quick try again of 2.2 this evening. I did my usual configuring of Advanced Systemcare 4 Turbo Boost and shut down Windows Security Essentials real time protection. But whilst looking at the options for the latter I noticed that there were filters for excluding directory/file type/processes. So I've added everything I could think of in relation to Cross to these.
I'm a bit confused because I've always switched real-time protection off and so I don't think these should be relevant, but during my half hour test I didn't get any cutouts. Cross still froze a little when loading a track but no cutouts is great.
I tried 2.3 and things were fine with that too.
Could be a red-herring, not sure.

I just tried out what rhopkins did, but still had drop-outs :/ It can not be Security Essentials, cause I installed Win7 clean without anything else on it and even deactivated the Defender - and still had Drop-Outs...
