BPM @ Ogg Vorbis Comment - Possible with Cross?

Postby juice88 on 27 Dec 2012, 18:06

Hey!

I wanted to know if it is possible to save the BPM, that Cross analyzed, in the comment/tag of the Ogg Vorbis-Files. It takes time, to analyze them every time if the collection is not saved.

Thank you! :)

After analyzing your Tracks save your Collection.
If you later load this Collection again the BPM values should be loaded too.

Also make shure you have "save tag changes" activated in Cross settings.

Thank You! :) I knew that already, that they stay if i save the collection.

But is it possible to save them directly in the ogg-file or in the playlist? :)

Unfortunately no.
FLAC uses the same Vorbis tag structure, but here you can read the whole story if you like:

There is a lot of ambiguity with the tag structure in vorbis, and as a result of it using the same structure - FLAC.

It's unfortunate, but hopefully something can be figured out in the near future... It's just not an easy solution like ALAC/AAC or the ID3 tags in MP3 where there is a clearly defined standard for tagging.

Since I'm working with Mixed in Key (was using the new 5.5 release last night to tag some files), I noticed they tagged FLAC.

I know not all DJ's use MIK, but it's becoming more common to see people using Key as a function of their mixing.

That being said, what is the chance that the tagging used in MIK could be matched within Cross?

It's 'something' at least... a start.

I'll see if I can get some information on the tagging they use and share.
