I find it most annoying when being lazy and sync'ing tracks then when you want to move the Pitch +/- you have to move it up and down like crazy to get it to wake up! This is slightly annoying if it happens to be at +50% speed when it wakes....

It is to avoid jump when you're changing layer... we'll surely have this conversion again when you'll have 4 decks into your software.

The one other thing i'd like to have (don't think Cross does it?? ) is to have a 'soft' return to 0 pitch when you mouse click on the little button next to 0% rather than it just quickly jump there from whatever pitch speed it's at.

With speed and curve adjustable ?

Not entirely sure if it needs to be speed & curve adjustable as long as it does it at a slow enough pace as for it not to be so obviously noticed when the track is being played to the crowd. Obviously everybodys idea of the correct speed is different, but i understand speed & pitch means more work so would be happy with just it not being a lightening reset to 0

Hi all,

I hope you all are having a great xmas with family and friends!

I tried the "trick" and alas... no dice. Not sure what to do next in terms of troubleshooting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I will rephrase the whole thing :
- it is not an issue
- the VCI doesn't sent a MIDI message that give a states of his control, so there is no way for the software to know, who is where
- the MIDI take over is a feature to avoid critical jump if control position is different from software position

Is that so hard to zeroing all control before launching software ?

Sooooo...

Then is it the VCI who has the problem?

And yes it is Support.

Say...I have a software failure in the middle of a hot set. Packed dancefloor....and I gotta do a reboot as Cross isnt restarting, I'm bein heckled. I dont have the time to zero in all controls before I start. I need to get back to rocking that spot ASAP or I might not have a gig next week.

I guess this is where the take over feature comes into play so I am not blaring my levels droppin in.

Please understand that I am new to this. I have been a CDJ user for quite some time and now I'm finally makin the leap to software. Its no longer learning how a CDJ and mixer works...But how MIDI...hardware...and software works and works together as well.

Be nice with us n00bs. Tis the season. :D

The VCI don't have a problem per you say, it's just that there is no mention into the MIDI commands chart ofone that sent controler state.
Will ask Vestax, may be it is a hidden one.

90% of the MIDI controler can't send their state when requested by the software.

Basically, the issue is that if the control isn't being moved the location isn't provided.

What that means if that if you crash the software, and restart - when the software comes up all the values are zeroed out. Why? Because the assumption is you want all the values at zero - not at wherever they happen to be from your last set or were bumped to during transport.

So suppose in the case above you turned to reboot the software and your headphone cable caught on the pitch control and moved it all the way to the + side. Now you start up the software and drop in a track to start things up and without soft take over when you realize the pitch is all the way up and go to move it, you can't because the pitch will jump to max the minute you move that control. Soft takeover requires you to move the control to the location the software expects it to be before the control can be used to change the values in the software.

While it's frustrating sometimes, it's really a feature designed to keep nasty things from happening when the controls don't match up to the software for some reason.

Personally, I'd love to see a controller with motorized faders and dials. If you used deck switch the values would jump to match the software. :) It's be pricey as hell, because I'd also want scribble strips and a lot of flexibility in the controller.... (I'm currently designing a new template for my Maschine controller to work with Cross).
