What is Download Protection?

Dear Mixvibes,

When I wanted to purchase CrossDJ, I had an extra charge for "Download Protection". Is it really necessary to purchase it? What if I don't purchase it, I accidentally delete or lose my master copy in my system, will I need to purchase it again???
