VCI 400 Not Properly responding

Postby dj_decka on 16 Dec 2012, 05:19

Hi All,

When starting Cross 2.0.0. with the VCI 400, It seems like I need to move every dial...knob...or button in order for it to respond right away before I start the mix. Also...it seems like certain controls (the level faders in this case) "fall asleep" when not being used for a while.

Is this normal?

Thank you for your help in advance!

That's what I was thinking. But soft takeover wouldn't normally happen for every single control on the entire device. At least not in my experience.

Would be nice to have a MIDI controller with all motorized controls tha automatically changed as you moved from player to player, etc. ;)

Probably pricey as hell, but the cool factor would be WAY up there. :D

Good morning Daniel,

Thanks for the help. :)

Both the MIDI led on the controller ( the one that lets me know the controller is making a signal ) and the green icon in mixvbes does flash when I move the faders...dials...buttons...and so on. When I switch the controller off. The green icon goes to grey. Letting me know the 400 is indeed offline.

I dont know if it helps but the firmware on 400 has been updated as well.

And Good Morning Marxon,

What is activated soft takeover?

I appreciate all the help guys. Hopefully its something really easy to fix!

You can de/activate it in Cross MIDI settings.
"This function is to be used whenever the functions controlled by the hardware can change their value without touching the hardware, such as the Pitch Fader that moves when pressing Sync. The action of the associated fader or knob will be ignored until it is brought to the position matching the position in the software. This allows taking over control with absolute controllers seamlessly."

We don't have the documentation about the controler sending a state of all his controls, so the software don't know where they are at launch until you have touched them (starting to send values).

The MIDI take over is there to avoid jump into values when switching from a state to another. Until you have reached the software values nothing won't happen. Never noticed the ghost control on the GUI ?

Mine does this too, so i'll be trying the 'turn off' trick too. I find it most annoying when being lazy and sync'ing tracks then when you want to move the Pitch +/- you have to move it up and down like crazy to get it to wake up! This is slightly annoying if it happens to be at +50% speed when it wakes....

The one other thing i'd like to have (don't think Cross does it?? ) is to have a 'soft' return to 0 pitch when you mouse click on the little button next to 0% rather than it just quickly jump there from whatever pitch speed it's at.
