I just need to break down and get the video plugin... the system I have should handle it as long as I don't get too crazy on the resolution.

As can be seen at picture, I used only video mode, where these icons aren't visible...

I used to live in Fairbanks, Alaska... so I know what you mean by 'cold'.

And when you look for a new sound card, try to find something that's a 4 output sound card or more.

Look at the U-Mix 44, for example..

To see the icons you have to press AUDIO button above the central window, where mixed video plays.
So it's no good to switch from mode to mode to see these extremely useful buttons.
Maybe it's better to move them up from audio tab?

open up and look at key board mapping and see what triggers the headphone .monitor and you should be able to use it instead of a gui icon on inter face,,it was a or b for each deck in eariler ver,,,,here i am stepping off a cliff by not being familiar with the plug in and changes made

check software ver 2.2 keyboard short cut for headphone /monitoring is the same as in earlier ver ,,press a to monitor track a and b for track b
check while running the vid plug in ,,lack of info ,,,,
