Migration between Windows and Mac OS

Postby blueandy on 08 Nov 2012, 14:57

I'm using Cross Pack 1.6 in a windows 7 system.
If I buy a MacBook, will I be able to easily transfer all my collections from windows to mac or will I have to create them all from scratch?

From scratch but not because of the different Os. You should update to version 2.1 and this is not compatible with your today selection.

The path handling is not the same between both OS.

1: open the iTunes.xml on your mac, then copy the path in it to another text-file.

2: take your whole iTunes folder from Windows to where it is on your mac.

3: open the iTunes.xml again (now you have your Windows-itunesxml on Mac) and replace the path in the xml with the one saved to the textfile.

You see the only difference being is the path in the xml, so simply your copy itunes-folder from Win to Mac and then change the path.

pretty easy, you only need to make shure to copy the path from the mac-xml before replacing it with the win-xml.
