Playlist Order?

Postby maddyc on 31 Oct 2012, 21:50

How do i move tracks up and down a playlist when drag and drop doesn't work??

Column header is '#' but the order is not in order and the tracks won't move around when i drag and drop

Not sure what you mean by 'not in order'?

In normal playlists, they are sorted by whichever field you choose. For example artist, title, genre, bpm, key. You can keep the original order in which you added them, by clicking on the '#' heading.

To test this I just created a new playlist and added a few tracks - they did stay in the order I added them, but the only way I was able to change this was to sort by a different field. Clicking '#' returned them to the original order.

Hope this helps. ;)

Usually, I build a playlist in BPM order as I like to 'build up' to a party atmosphere... generally it works!

There's always the opportunity to build a playlist that goes down in bpm, but I always finish on a high, and it seems to work well! :D

I really don't understand what is so difficult with that :

For moving tracks inside a playlist simply hold the track and drag it where you want. You'll see a bright line showing you the landing position until you release the track.

You can also sort your playlist by what ever parameter you want and then you simply 'Renumber Track Order' so this sorting become the base ordering.

That doesn't sound right.

When I add tracks to a playlist I then like to sort them by BPM. Once I left-click on the BPM column the order changes. Then I right-click on the BPM column and choose "Re-number track order", or something like that. That then changes the # of each track to be rest 1-23 (or whatever) based on BPM. Then I can drag tracks into whatever place I want after I click on #.

Make sense?

It's not working for me. I can't change the order of a playlist by drag and drop. Is there some kind of a lock function for this feature?

EDIT: I just found out how to do this. First the playlist needs to be sorted by the #-column, then drag and drop works
