hi everyone!
since mixvibes recommends higher specs on windows laptop, and aside from alienware & msi, i heard that asus ROG g75 series is now the worlds most powerful & gaming laptop due to its intel i7quad 3.3ghz + 3gb built in video card nvidea with 16 gb memory & its solid state drive.
is there anyone here using asus ROG on Vfx? is it ok when u put hdmi or vga out to any monitor? im planning to change my laptop because of logs when doing my videomix with any hdmi or vga output on screen.
i dont know if the problem is on Vfx software or my laptop. my laptop is brand new lenovo y470 intel i72nd gen w/ 2gb built in videocard nvidea & has 8gb ddr3 memory & has no installed any software rather than Vfx alone, but theres always a problem when putting videoout to any screen projector or LCD, its been a year of adjusting screen set up displays and etc. i have mastered the display set up but diff problems comes up everytime, im so tired maybe changing laptop is the answer or the software update i dont know.
maybe powerful asus ROG is the answer.. pls. anyone?

Ive got an older ROG g51, and its flawless for HD output. I have not run Vfx through it though, but have put some games through it @ 1080, and is fantastic on the output. Even the VGA out is great. I think its got the 330m NVidia card in it. Older model, but pretty solid. Which Nvidia does the Lenovo model you have in it? Definitely go and get/check the latest updates from Nvidia. I can only think it is something in the Lenovo build, but they are generally good laptops.... Not worth getting a ROG unless you are going to game with it. Having the biggest 'penis' on the block may not 'get you every woman you look at,' but it might help though All jokes aside, there are many other Laptops on the market that will pump Vfx out well. Cheers

The issue you're talking are windows handling of the secondary display. In a perfect word, the 2nd display should be connected and initialized BEFORE Windows boot-up. Then when the secondary display is well installed and managed into Windows, there nothing to do into Vfx apart double clicking on the master output view to send it there.
On a side note you don't need so heavier specs PC to run Vfx. A dual i5 can handle it easily, I personally run it on an old C2D Quad @ 2.4Ghz...

Was thinking that you needed a good spec PC, but not the top of the line by all means.... Took the words out of my mouth Just one last thing about the new Flagship ROG unit...sort of hard to lug around a 17" screened beast desktop replacement with that massive 130 watt power supply too. Its not a light machine i might add, but it looks way stealthy cool Cheers

the 2nd display was always initialized before windows boot up. and i mastered the Vfx & my LAPTOP display settings for a year. the problem comes up everytime whenever i do videomix with output display. it has log & sometimes it hangs! but when i do videomixing without output souce(laptop only) its ok. so the problem of Vfx is when u put a HDMI or VGA output, the Vfx software has logs or hangs, now can somebody pls. help me is there any other adjustments available aside from what i know? any help appreciated... thanks

Vfx don't manage the output so I don't understand how it can hang or anything while on the second screen. Vfx simply send the signal to a window (not a screen) then the OS send the window to the 2nd screen.
I often let play Vfx with an external HDMI screen in autoplay mode for days to test all the videoclips of my database (nearly 700) and the display don't have any influence on the software because it doesn't even know what it is. Also when doing convention and shows, external display are playing during all the office hour and nothing. When it's hang it is mostly a bad file decoding or a feature (fx or what ever that have crashed).
What about a GPU overheating with a secondary display ?

ah ok so i think that my os i7 2nd gen(sandy bridge) or Lenovo has an issue, because u said that Vfx has nothing to do with 2nd display. my laptop was the top of the line in 2011 and the Gpu was never overheating and i have many diff files to test like mp4, avi, mov, mkv(with diff. resolution) but the log is the same.
i dont understand why when i put on 2nd display the Vfx logs, imagine i have 2gb built-in videocard invidia & has 8gb memory but why? where is the problem? thats why i think i should ship to asus ROG and this is the reason why i post this thread because i really dont know whats the issue.
anyway thanks for the suggestions. this is why i love mixvibes u always support!

Try to see : - cleaning air vent arround and under the laptop - better GPU drivers (may be a bug with multidisplay) - underclocking the GPU if possible. Less speed = less heat
EDIT : I have forgot this one. One of our VIP DJ had issue like that at a show/event an it was the Audio thru HDMI that was activated. Disabling the device into the devices manager/audio section solved the issue.
