Zooming with Cross

Postby young chappy on 16 Feb 2012, 03:42

I just started using turntables with Cross and saw that when ever I stopped the record it would zoom in very fast. Is there anyway to disable this feature?

Hi chappy,

As far as I'm aware, there is not.

No there isn't.

What bothers you in this view?
Do you understand why it zooms like this?
As only disabling the "harsh zoom in" is impossible, what would you suggest?

Thanx for the input.

Cheers,

As far as I know, every software does it.

Because when you stop the turntable, software detects that the speed of the track went to 0 very fast, so it follows it by lovering the pitch to 0 quickly, and this couse the "zooming in".

This whole timecode feature is so simple, I think, if we add an extra GUI function to detect this, and not zoom it in, I think it will be just more work for the CPU.

You can get used to is BTW :)

From what i know, either you propose a "matching" view or you don't!
But a matching view without matching is "stupid"...

Look, i just got an idea that might fit most of your needs.
What about having the possibility to restrict the zooming range?
For instance, ok i never play songs pitched more than 8%, please do not zoom to more than +/- 8%.
pros: This would let you use the matching view for beatmatching without being disturbed by the extreme zooming cases (vinyl start/stop for instance).
cons: Adding some new tricky options is never a good thing for complexity and global undestanding...

Let me know what you think!

PS: in the next major version, there'll be the possibility to hide this view, for those who really hate it ;)

Sylvain, why so complicated?

You can still have the waveform stretched so the beatmarkers line up if in sync but with a lock.
