U-Mix 44 input question

Postby BennyB on 22 Jan 2012, 16:57

I want to build a Line-to-phono converter, in order to be able to connect CD players to my U-Mix 44 input.

The Question: Does U-Mix 44 has a RIAA corrector on the input?

THX for the answer! ;)

No I can't. CD players output is too high, U-Mix 44 is to sensitive, so you don't get a clear sound through. That's why I want to build a converter.

The converter has an Inverse RIAA filter, so that is why I'm asking.

Short Answer,
no RIAA Preamp on the Umixx, happens all in the software.

Does it not work to adjust the input-sensitivity in the control panel to work with CDJs?

Edit: Now that I think about it, instead of building a line-phono-converter, wouldnt it be easier and probably better for the sound just to make a simple patchbay with a -10db pad on the output? ;)

Think about it.

I thought about It, but didn't know how to make or get one. Would you PM me some info on that?

I was thinking in a small box, with single knob to set the attenuation of the sound as much as I want.

BTW: If you have an input sensitivity, and the input signal you out on it is higher level, the sound will be distored, no matter how you lover the level of it later. At least I think so...

I'm not quite shure i understand:

Even if you adjust the input on the software-panel the output will be distorted if you set it to bypass in Cross?

Could you give me a stepbystep signal path so i dont think about tue wrong issue ;)

Bout the patchbay: you just need 4 stereo-cinch connectors, 1m of quality cable, some metal for the housing and the resistors.
I've built one myself some time ago to feed line-level into a mic input.

I'll hit you bout the resistors later as i'm at university now and cant remember the type...all in all it should not cost you more than 30€ and maybe 2 hours of time.

Hi DzsoniB,

I guess you don't need any convertor, just lower the input level, either using the U-Mix44 panel or the windows' panel.

Cheers,
SylMV

In this case you need to lower the volume in the panel with the bypass as reference.
So might end with 1 for instance.
