Hi
I've been using the 1.6 for a while now. I already made a topic about a problem when changing collections, but maybe it's better to share my remarks with you. You never know it could be useful:
- changing from one to another collection stops the playback of the current song - File - Save Collection doesn't exist anymore. Only save collection as... - If you make changes to your collection and close restart Cross properly, than your changes will remain when it opens again. But when it was closed improperly, Cross does not even remember what collection was used before. So if i'm building up my collection and forget to save from time to time, i loose all my work. - the BPM is not stable. Sometimes it varies +1 BPM and -1 BPM. But a constantly change of 2 BPM is a disaster when playing live. I have this problem a lot. Sometimes it doesn't happen for a while and suddenly it's there again. - It would be handy to have an option so you can choose if the BPM in the display is on the fly or not. Now you can only see your calculated BPM when the vinyl is playing. Sometimes i'm mixing fast and it's important to have visual support before the record is even spinning. - the ABS and REL function are changing all the time. I use ABS and every 2-3 tunes it jumps to REL. My cues are not set atm, so the moment i realise i cannot go to the start of the song, i'm too late for my mix. If I choose ABS, it should remain on ABS.
Greetings

You can choose "Save collections as..." and overwrite your existing collection. This is how I am doing it. You might call it workaround and continue asking for getting back the "save collection" option. skandal wrote:- If you make changes to your collection and close restart Cross properly, than your changes will remain when it opens again. There is no "autosafe" function in Cross like you have in MS Word or anywhere. So this is just logically that you will loose your changes if you do not save your work. skandal wrote:- the BPM is not stable. Sometimes it varies +1 BPM and -1 BPM. Maybe it was you who opened a thread for it in the tech forum - I do not know. But did we come to a solution? Guess we did not, right? Just bump your thread and let's continue working on that problem! skandal wrote:- It would be handy to have an option so you can choose if the BPM in the display is on the fly or not. I have argued in that thread why I think it is not possible and even sylMV said that he is interested in it but at the moment it is not possible. Nevertheless a good idea!!!! skandal wrote:- the ABS and REL function are changing all the time. I use ABS and every 2-3 tunes it jumps to REL. Go to the Cross preferences and to the Audio tab. Unmark the "Automatically change playback modes" and this problem will be solved. Cheers, Steve

My collections are saved in documents, and i have to confirm to replace the file, so 3 extra clicks and a lot of mouse movements. in the middle of a party it's not easy. When you close down Cross properly, the collection is automatically saved. [ Blackbrook wrote:Maybe it was you who opened a thread for it in the tech forum - I do not know. But did we come to a solution? Guess we did not, right? Just bump your thread and let's continue working on that problem!

Is this really a problem? If so, Cross doesn't seem to run stable on your computer

without a doubt, that shall be the biggest problem. I'm using macbook though. But sometimes when adding certain mp3's to the collection, my Cross crashes. Not that often, but sometimes. TBH, i didn't encounter this problem since 1.6, but now I have a problem with my battery of my macbook. So when the cable disconnects, the macbook shuts down.

The old collection of Cross was so limited, that we offer the choice of swapping collection on the fly.
The new one is a huge database and isn't meant for the same use. Now what you want to do is having a collection with massive playlists or node dock shortcuts, just a new way of working.
Concerning the file that make Cross crash, it would be nice if you could sent them to us in order to fix their import.
The pitch woobling : does it still happen if you raise your latency ?

Just a detail about this point: The collection database is continuously saved. If you got a crash or something else, your database will contains all you've already done till a few seconds before the crash. However, settings are only saved at shutdown. Then if you create a new collection, work on it, and crash Cross, Cross will just forgot you had created a new collection (and then won't automatically reopen it), but the Collection is on the disk where you saved it! Just open it and you're back to business! Cheers,
