Up with that uncle vibes, i have the BCD2000 (easier to handle then my 1210MKII's) but nothing but trouble during gigs
The feeling, direct control, communication, no problem with the vinyl.
But this controller grrrr. loosing communication with MV, is he stil working yes/no, don't push the buttons to fast (caus he can't handle it).
I can't trust this controller anymore..... a new other controller maybe?
I would like to take my MKII with me but i have no place in the club for my babies unfortunally.
2 gigs a week of each 6 hours, what controller can i really trust? never behringer again

Sorry but i have to agree with Uncle - any turntable and analog mixer is better than a MIDI controller! ;)
BUT if i had to have one, the VCI stands out as the most flexible (software compatibility wise), and pretty bomb proof - its been around for a while for a reason, while ALOT of others have become land fill.
Ive seen them on ebay NEW/w warranty starting around US$250bux...

You can mod them too like Phaded did, and play Street Fighter or Mortal Combat in the middle of a gig. viewtopic.php?f=259&t=16315

Thanks a lot for this "report"!!!!! I was checking the Behringer because at the moment I do not have the money for a VCI 100. But reading this I will save my money till I can buy the Vestax!

Thanks!

I think some one forgot one important thing on the Vestax tr-1 - JOGWHEELS! I suppose it would be ok as an additional MIDI controller, but not really a stand alone unless you want to be labeled 'DJ push play'.

I noticed that at the VCI-100 no pitchbend knobs are available (+ & - knobs)

yeah thats what the jogwheels are for ;)
Anyways, you could probably map a couple of the buttons to do that purpose if its important to you. :)

Today I bought a highley regarded german computer magazine. In it was - surprisingly - a test of different MIDI controllers and scratch systems. Unfortunately they mentioned just the big and famous ones like Deckadence (? never heard that before), Virtual DJ, Torq and Traktor for sure. In this case you all may imagine that Traktor was marked as the best software just behind Virtual DJ.
As I said they also tested controllers and made two categories:

with internal audio interface
  • Behringer BCD 3000
  • DJ Tech i-Mix Reload MK II
  • Hercules DJ Console RMX
  • M-Audio Torq Exponent

without internal audio interface
  • Herclues DJ Control MP3 e2
  • Ion Audio Discover DJ
  • Numark Total Control
  • Vestax VCI 100
  • Native Instruments Traktor Kontrol

M-Audio's Torq Xponent won the first category because of reliability and scratch handle. But it lost a lot of sympathy for a very bad firmware of which an update is awaited since a long time and because of "TBIA" errors that occured because of a conflict with the internal audio interface.
I think I do not have to mention which MIDI controller won the second category ;) The magazine is also informed about djtechtools with their own firmware for the vci and so they mentioned it - I was stunning!
The mixvibes softwares (Cross or Producer,DVS,...) were unfortunately not mentioned. I would have tested it instead of Deckadence, but I think the reason is the author's choice, not the quality or image. In the final tabelaric comparison Mixvibes LE is mentioned because it is shipped with the Ion Audio Discover DJ, but no word elsewhere :-(

Nevertheless I think that the VCI will be my choice in the near future.

Greetings,

Steve

Yes, VCI is cool ;)
The only things I dislike are the shorter pitchs bends. They are not precise enough to do as good job as real Cds or Vinyls decks.
