Bpm is very low, cannot connect turntables!

Postby aznjesus44 on 08 Mar 2010, 06:36

For some reason the bpm stays below 10 when i try and connect my turntables. It's very odd because when it does this i cannot calibrate my turntable. I am puzzled and i need to find a way to get the songs to play at their normal bpm. (the pitch faders are set to zero! lol)

First, check you have calibrated your turntables properly in Cross. You should be using Mixvibes Timecode vinyl V2+, if you are not doing so already. make sure your Turntable pitch is at 0%, and hit the calibrate buttons on each whilst playing at 33RPM. (I'd recommend calibrating at 33RPM, then switching the mode to 45RPM after if you prefer.)

Im using the timecoded vinyls that the Cross Pack came with. My pitch is at 0% on the turntable and in the Cross software. Ive also tried calibrating at 33 and 45. The bpm does increase though when i set the pitches higher obviously, but its still only in about the 20s(bpm). I am using the u46mk2 with the Esi driver installed running on Cross v1.3.2!

Can you post a config report with both tables running, Needles on records - set @ 0% pitch?
Cheers

Try increasing your ASIO sample level.

I got this when I went to low when I was setting Cross up.

Yeah that definitely sounds like a problem. Is it a faulty connection in the turntable?

Try swapping your turntables around to see if this problem still happens.
The thing with digital software is your tables may sound fine when using normal vinyl, but when using Digital vinyl, all the flaws that you don't notice normally will appear-the software needs a stable precise signal to operate.

I believe its the right channel on one of my turntables that isnt working and the left on my other turntable. Once i solder some new rca's on then i will follow up and tell yall if it fixed my problem.

Good luck with your mission bro!.... the thing with T1200s (im assuming this is what you have as your problem is common, but this applies to ALL hardwired rca TT's) is that because you cant remove the cables on factory models, after time they stuff up if you plug them in and out of mixers, ect...
My soloution was to hardwire some 'Male' rca inputs onto the back of the 1200, then you can plug and unplug replacement cables, and not revisit this situation. Easier to just get another cable, then have to open the thing up over and over (after the second time, it happened at a gig, i was over it)!!
Works a treat for my decks ;)
