Thank You To All Who Tried To Help...

Postby CINTRON on 06 Mar 2010, 02:20

I want to sincerely thank everyone out there who tried to help me with all the problems I experienced with the MixVibes Cross Pack- from the bottom of my heart, thank you!
Unfortunately, after being able to calibrate the discs, I was never able to control or get the songs to play through my decks- I'm not a laptop DJ (or "Jukebox" like I call those DJ's who do so!) The purpose of me purchasing this program was to eliminate having to haul around my 1,000's of CD's & flip through them every time I was mixing. I had to do my event this way today because I was never able to get this program to cooperate. (The event was a success & the people enjoyed themselves- that's really all that matters to me!) I did everything suggested by the users of this forum & the problem was ever resolved, other than the calibration part.
I'm returning the Cross Pack on Monday & going to a different software/program. I wish everyone the best of luck & once again, thank you for all the suggestions!

Re: I CAN'T RETURN A DEFECTIVE PROGRAM?!?!?

Hi CINTRON,

What store did you purchase Cross from? Most music retail places don't return any opened software because of copyright restrictions.

Aside from that, the forum has given you nearly every answer that can be thought of in regards to your situation. (Speaking of which, did you ever give ASIO4ALL a shot?) I apologize that we weren't able to solve your problems, but we're doing the best we can to provide a solution without actually being in front of your setup.

That said, I've forwarded this thread to one of the higher ups for their input as well.

Regards,
-Phaded

This is what I found in my inbox. I have included my answer as well.

Still have another problem now- I can't use my external mixer (Pioneer DJM-400) to control anything!! i.e. Volume levels, crossfade, preview, etc. What do I do now??
I'm contacting you because your information was the most effective of anyone else here!

I am happy to hear that!

Unfortunately you do not have the chance to control your software with your external mixer. As I am informed the DJM 400 has no MIDI Output (http://www.mexthai.com/shop/m/mexthai/i ... 5856_b.jpg). You need a MIDI Output or an USB port to send informations from your mixer to your laptop (the software), i.e. when you fade the volume of the track at the external mixer the volume of the track in the software fades, too. To be able to do this you need a mixer that is able to send informations to your computer. As I said a MIDI Output or a USB port can this. Unfotunately your DJM 400 does not own anything of both :-(.

Hope you will stick to Mixvibes anyway, there a lot of different solutions!

Greetings,

Steve

Next one, so that you are informed.

Greetings,

Steve

CINTRON wrote:I'm not sure what a "MIDI device" is, but I'm sure it's not what I'm using. I've seen many DJ's using this program with the same mixer I have! I'm playing on Pioneer CDJ-800MK2 decks & the Pioneer DJM-400 mixer, neither of which (to my knowledge) is a 'MIDI". I looked @ the screen shot & that is the right mixer, but as of now, I still have no solutions to my problem. If I need another software, that should've been explained or noted on the information included with this product- it is advertised to work with almost ALL external mixers AS IS!
I do appreciate your help & time with this issue. If you can think of anything else, please let me know!

Hello,

I am not sure if you exactly know what you have bought. You can use the software with your actual equipment! You can control the software with your CDJs, BUT you can not control the software with your mixer and is technically not possible to do so. If you have seen videos where people tell you that they control the faders and knobs IN the software with their faders and knobs of the DJM it is total bullshit what they are telling you. As I said before your mixer does not send any information but the audio signals and that is the exact reason why it can not work.
I forgot what kind of mixvibes software you are using, but in case you are using DVS 7 or Producer you can buy a cheap KORG MIDI Controller (i.e. Kog nanoKontrol) and install this one via MIDI Learn so that you can control the faders and knobs in the software with this piece of hardware.
In Cross you can only use two or three MIDI controllers till now, but the MIDI learn function and support for different MIDI controllers will be included in the upcoming software update.

At last let me add that no one labeled the software wrong! There is no sticker or anything else on it that says: "Control this software with your DJM 400"!!! If you are totally angry because you spend a lot of money for a solution you can not get to work I agree with you if you are angry, BUT before the buy you should have tested the software (if you did so please excuse) and get to know if this is your solution. To me it seem as if you listened to a shop seller that was talking a lot of bullshit just to sell this package! Please be patient and work on your software, because as I said before there are a lot of possibilities and different solutions for your "problem".

Greetings,

Steve

  maybe i am missing a beat but the progran is Cross Pack , doesnt Cross have the external mixer tab in the audio console and cant he use that to control the program, not such to the extent of controling the internal mixer , but using it outboard  . only played with Cross demo and the time code option was there for one turntable only,,do not see this as a clamity,,try to explain your expectation and what you want to accomplish and as blackbrook said ther are many options avaible .   the fight that is never won is the one that you give up on

Yes - he can use his external mixer to control the audio signal once its left the u46...i think he was under the impression that he could control the 'software mixer' within Cross which as Steve stated is not possible unless you have a compatible MIDI controller. ;)

I think 99.9% of us on the forum have got the software functioning, so there must be some communication/confusion of what Cintrons expectations of the technology was/is. ;)
Cintron, did you try an select in 'preferences>audio> "External Mixer" (not simple stereo, ect)?
This would allow 'analog' manipulation of the audio signal once it left the u46....(like most users use...)
Cheers
